Hi Stephen,

True.. over here in Ithaca, when we had trouble with our furnace, we did stay
warm in the living room with our gas fireplace... wouldn't have helped much
else I guess if the furnace guy took a long time to get here, but it worked to
keep us warm in that room at least.

I don't know if this gas-fireplace was ever a wood-burning fireplace. I hope
it was (grin). I should check with the previous owner. He and his wife lived
in this house for 40 years so they should know.

Yes indeed :(

Yes, good things to think about once you're in the house and to think of over
time.

>> I never noticed the type of wood stove my daughter uses in her house,

> Very practical.

We knew that if we didn't do something like that it would be rough for her
heating her house. It's a good sized house, with an upstairs and downstairs,
etc.

Ok. This is a link to someone who made butter with their Kitchenaid like I
did:

http://www.thekitchn.com/tip-make-butter-by-the-pound-i-97984

She mentions making the butter and using the remaining liquid as skim milk...
Joy Of Cooking says the remaing liquid is buttermilk..

Your kitchenaid will do it in a very few minutes... it's incredibly fast.

Take care,
Janis
