Indiana and Mississippi were a bit far from New York (maternal) or even
Maryland (paternal).  :)

We had visits from grands, great-grands, aunts/uncles from time to time,
sometimes for holidays, but more usually during the better weather
months of the year.  When we were living in Mississippi, we spent
summers in the DC area, and were fairly close then to my father's
brother and his parents...

Sometimes the family was given fruit cake or the big box of assorted
chocolates... I don't remember my parents ever buying it themselves, and
certainly the fruit cake wasn't homemade, at least by us... ;)  Daddy
would sometimes buy the ribbon candy, though... :)

I bet those tasted pretty yummy...  :)   Pizzelles she might not have
thought looked like a cookie... and maybe she just wasn't wanting
molasses cookies... ;)  And, again, probably didn't look as festive as
the pumpkin/mincemeat bar...  :)

I'd expect so... :)  That sort of thing is quite handy... and having it
be moveable, you'd not have to leave it behind like Janis did her
custom-made island..   :)
