A good part of it, too, is having a congenial place to work and a decent work
environment. Someone who comes to work just "because it's a job" is going to
have a much different attitude toward customer service than an employee who
enjoys (more-or-less) what they do and looks forward to the time they spend
getting paid.

The Auto Zone Rah-Rah meetings are much different than the Rah-Rah meetings I
remember from life insurance sales, or multi-level marketing meetings where the
focus was on flogging a product that no one really believed in to make money
for the people upstream.

There are elements of those sorts of Rah-Rah sessions (chants, cheers, etc) but
the main thrust is education and reinforcement of principles. And I learn
something new at least every other meeting - something that never happened in
insurance or MLM.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Sausage & Roasted Pepper Calzone
 Categories: Pork, Pastry, Vegetables, Cheese, Nuts
      Yield: 5 Servings
 
MMMMM--------------------------PASTRY--------------------------------
     15 oz Pkg Pillsbury Pie Crusts

MMMMM--------------------------FILLING-------------------------------
      1 lb Sweet Italian sausage
      1 cl Garlic; minced
    1/4 ts McCormick Italian seasoning
      2 lg Eggs
      8 oz Mozzarella cheese; in cubes
    1/4 c  Pine nuts
    1/2 c  Sliced green onions
    1/4 ts Dried basil leaves
    1/4 ts Pepper
    1/3 c  Ricotta Cheese
      7 oz Jar roasted red peppers;
           - chopped
 
  Heat oven to 400oF/205oC.
  
  Allow both crust pouches to stand at room temp 15-20 min.
  
  Meanwhile, in large skillet brown sausage with onions and
  garlic; drain. Stir in basil, Italian seasoning and
  pepper.
  
  In small bowl, beat eggs with fork; reserve 1 1/2 tb; set
  aside. Add ricotta cheese to remaining eggs; mix well.
  Stir into sausage mixture. Add mozzarella cheese, peppers
  and 3 tb of the pine nuts.
  
  Remove crusts from pouches; unfold. Press out fold lines.
  Place one prepared crust on end of large ungreased cookie
  sheet with about 1/3 of crust hanging over edge. Spoon
  half of sausage mixture over half of crust on cookie
  sheet, leaving about 1" border and mounding filling
  toward center.
  
  Fold pie crust half over filling - press edges with fork
  to seal. Cut four 1" slits in top of crust.
   
  Repeat with second crust and remaining filling at opposite
  end of cookie sheet.
  
  Brush with reserved 1 1/2 tb egg. Sprinkle with remaining
  pine nuts. Bake at 400oF/205oC for 20-25 min or until crust
  is golden brown.
  
  To serve cut each calzone in half or into 3 wedges.
