===============
Hi Nancy,

NB> in NB>> Norfolk... they spent summers at Montreat, though, and that's
NB> more NB>> quintessentially ice cream weather... ;)

RH> Most of the time, yes. We're having a cooler than normal summer this
RH> year so not as much ice cream is probably being consumed. OTOH, it's
RH> still very hot out in LVNV and AZ so they're probably eating a lot
 RH> more of it.

NB> We eat probably as much ice cream in winter as in summer... but I was
NB> speaking more of summer being more the time to be making your own ice

Making it yes, eating it, year round. When Steve & I were first married,
we had to do our wash at a laundromat. We'd get ice cream at the
convenience store nearby when we were done, usually year round. Could
get two good sized scoops for 15 cents, 4 scoops for a quarter and 6 for
35 cents. We splurged on the 6 scoops a few times. (G)

NB> cream... ;) Besides, actually, summer JUST started, and we've gone

Meteorlogical summer started June 1; we're almost 1/3 of the way thru
it.

NB> right into nasty hot humid weather again... ;0 At least it's
NB> officially summer now... (G) (Relief is supposedly on the way, after
NB> the predicted heavy rain for the next couple of days...)

Stocked up on the basics (bread, milk, tp) in case the power goes out?

NB> NB>> winter, spring summer and fall... quality buyers ask for
NB> Breyers, NB>> the greatest ice cream of them all." And yes, the
NB> music was going NB>> along in my head as I typed that.. (G)

RH> I never heard the jingles so don't have to worry about those ear
 RH> worms. (G)

NB> As long as the words are innocuous, I don't worry much.. :) The
NB> music does a great job in bringing back the memories of the words...
 NB> ;)

If you know the music..........

NB> RH>> Did you try any of the Portugese sweet bread that Dale & Gail
NB> you NB>> say, it was a couple years ago... I'm sure it was even
NB> better when NB>> it was fresh out of the oven... :)

RH> No, not quite as good as fresh baked but warming it helps.

NB> I think we did end up warming some, and yes, it helped... :)

Don't know why but it usually helps. If not, then toast the bread.

RH> Steve's Afghani friend gave him some flat bread the other day; it's
RH> pretty good but reminds me of (in looks) a crust portion of a regular
RH> loaf but about 10"x15" in size.

NB> Sounds like it's more like our bread in texture, then, than like the
NB> flat breads I'm familiar with, like naan, or pita... :)

Somewhat so, yes.

NB> RH>> At least chicken nuggets and frozen pizzas weren't in the lunch
 NB> RH>> rotation. (G)
NB> NB>> Those were too expensive for that crew... :)

RH> But how many moms of this generation do rely on them, no matter what
RH> the cost? They haven't learned how to make a better lunch for less.

NB> Maybe less than we think... ;) But then, they may be relying on even
NB> less expensive but also less healthy items... letting kids fill up on
 NB> potato chips or such...

I think a lot of it is because a lot of the parents were raised on fast
food and don't know good nutrition themselves.

NB> NB>> have a creamy sauce... Mine always vanished, too... :)

RH> Did you use whole wheat pasta?

 NB> That, and veggie pastas...

I didn't use too much of the veggie pasta, usually spinach or tomato if
I did.

RH> I've made some converts to whole wheat
RH> pasta when they taste how good my mac & cheese is. I use it all the
RH> time when I cook for Life Group & haven't gotten any complaints yet.

NB> Haven't made any of it for a long time now.. :) But I got no
NB> complaints back when I was doing it. :)

Do some when the weather cools off again?

NB> has the NB>>> best seafood pancakes in town... :)
NB> RH>> We'll have to see if the Seoul Garden down here has one equally
NB> good. NB>> I thought yours was Seoul House...? Ours isn't part of a
NB> chain, just NB>> a local one off...

RH> Ours is not a chain, and it is the Seoul Garden. I thought yours was
RH> the Seoul House. Either way, they're both good.

NB> Now I AM confused... (G) I looked mine up in (admittedly an old)
NB> phone book and it was clearly Garden... but, yes, I'd been thinking
 NB> ours was
NB> House... Hmmm... that might explain my original confusion, too...
NB> when I thought it was Garden, but it turned out to be House when we

Or Seoul Kitchen?

NB> But if yours is as good as ours, then yes, they're both good, though,
 NB> and that's what counts... ;)

In the long run, yes.
