Hi Janis,

JK> > OK, we'll keep it at that.
JK> Right now they are stored in a box in the basement.. one of these days
JK> we'll move them upstairs most likely.. more shelves needed (G)
We'll probably re-arrainge what books go on what shelves when we move.
Trying to thin the collection a bit so we don't have to buy more
shelves. I'm going to put some of my paperback fiction collection on
electronic format; that'll help free a couple of shelves.

JK> > brother took the chair to auction tho.
JK> I've had furniture like that.. especially dining chairs. They
JK> especially seem to suffer from feet-on-the-spindles (g).
This didn't have spindles but had to put up with 5 kids, a dog or 2,
various cats..........................

JK> > I've not looked thru remnant piles recently, at least at Jo-Ann's.
JK> Most > of the time I'm in there it's for supplies like interfacing,

JK> remnants tho.
JK> Sometimes there are large remnants, but not always. I've found some
JK> large remnants on ebay as well. I found a good batch there, and loved
JK> the colors...I used a lightweight dark blue stretch fabric to copy
JK> another shirt I had. I do that pretty often as its a cheap and easy
JK> way to make shirts for myself (no expense of pattern needed in other
JK> words). I already had dark blue thread so I was good to go (g).
Good going! I'm packing up my sewing room so I'm trying not to add more
fabric to the stash. Once we get moved and I get caught up on projects,
I may get some knit and make myself some (dressy) tee shirts. One
project I'll want to do before then is to make a pair of dark green
dress slacks for this winter.

JK> > And we sat on those chairs for quite a few meals, not only while she

JK> Hopefully someone can repair the chair. It would be a shame to lose
JK> those seats with your grandmother's needlepoint. It's not always easy
JK> repairing chairs though, from what I've seen. If it's just a matter
JK> of drilling new holes or replacing broken dowels that would be good.
JK> I've seen sites that discuss repairing a number of types of dining
JK> room chairs.
Dad hasn't put too much effort into looking, what with all the health
issues he and Mom have had since the chair broke.
>> Yes, holidays are on the way, and not too far away... (G)
JK> > His first job is at the end of the month and his "season" will be

JK> next year.
JK> That will give you time to finish the first :)
That one should be done before the end of the month.

new center island and some shelving in the kitchen. He'll have to
JK> > Sounds like you're working on some major improvements to the
JK> kitchen. > Will it be as nice as the one in Windsor eventually?
JK> (sigh).. the center island in Windsor was so large it was perfect..8X4
JK> I think? with everything right there for the kitchen, range,
JK> dishwasher, sink, frig.. This one will be smaller but the dishwasher
JK> will be built in (that's installed now). The original range and sink
JK> will remain where they are on the opposite kitchen walls as will the
JK> fridg.
JK> If I get sick of the kitchen table being in the kitchen and we use the
JK> dining room more often, then we might do a real big center island like
JK> we did in Windsor.. but that's not the plan. We'd really have to
JK> redesign and rip out so much of the existing kitchen. Someday maybe?
JK> (G)
Some interesting plans tho. I'm going to have fun figuring out stowage
in the new kitchen. There's more cabinet space but I think the pantry is
a bit smaller. The lower cabinets have half shelves for the top one so
we're going to take most of them out and put in slide outs.
>> take a little break though. He got a very bad flu this week (it's all

>> Antibiotics aught to take care of that, but right now he's feeling
>> pretty crummy :(
JK> > My sympathies, I've had bronchitis and pneumonia enough to know what
JK> > he's going thru. The antibiotics will help but time will be the best
JK> > healer.
JK> So far he has at least beaten the high temperature he had - it got up
JK> to 103 the day we saw the doctor... two days in a row though he's been
JK> at 98.6 or 98.9 so that's good. The cough is lingering, so is all the
JK> phlegm draining down his throat.. that's painful and probably still
JK> the cause of his still feeling some difficulty breathing. But that's
Try thyme tea--get a good sized handful, put it in about 2 quarts of
water. Bring it to just boiling, then let it steep for about 15 minutes.
Strain, sweeten if desired and enjoy. It's a sort of lemon/honey flavor
and really good for chest congestion. One of the vendors at the farmer's
market told Steve about it when I had bronchitis--it really works!
JK> better now than it was a few days ago as well... Lots of tea with
JK> lemon and honey and lots of chicken soup :) His rather barkish-cough
JK> bothers me, though he doesn't seem to think it matters (g). He's
JK> going to call his doctor on Monday I hope, as he saw an associate when
JK> he was in earlier on an emergency basis.
>>> We emptied out the one in Windsor last weekend.. and we found a

>> Yes, it was great finding it :) I can imagine Ron outside on it next
>> summer :)
JK> > While you are working in the garden?
JK> haha... sounds funny :) But I can picture that as well :)
>>> on projects.. That's probably a mental block for me.. if it's not easy
