I've not taken advantage of it, but It's certainly nice
to know that it's there. I used to have a brand that had
a medevac coverage, but that's gotten mighty expensive,
and in future I'll just rely on local hospitals or
commercial flights.

I actually think it would be better for the patients
if the hospitals allocated space like this rather
than according to the convenience of the staff.

Contrary to what Dirty Dave tells us is the proper
procedure, most chili is cooked with beans in it.

I was in Boston South Station recently, and Heineken is
advertising a new enhancement in beverage technology -
offering 8.5 oz in a fashionable slim can. Of course, you
pay a small premium for this fashion. (I was surprised
to find it was only 5 or 10%.)

Quick Garlic Butter
categories: condiment, ingredient
yield: 1 batch

1 Tb butter, for the garlic
4 to 7 ts minced garlic
4 Tb (1/2 stick) butter, at room temperature
-  beaten until light and fluffy
Salt and freshly ground black pepper totaste

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 Tb butter.
Add the garlic and cook, stirring frequently,
just until it has softened but not browned, about
5 min. Remove the garlic from the heat; set aside
to cool to room temperature.

In a small bowl using a wooden spoon or a
standing mixer with a paddle attachment, combine
the garlic with the rest of the ingredients until
thoroughly incorporated.

For a special party snack, melt this butter and toss
with about 10 oz potato chips (preferably thick-cut).
Bake in a 350F oven until fragrant and golden, 4 - 7
min. (Chips may be tossed with butter several hours
ahead of time, then heated at the last minute.) This
clever tip is from "Party Food" by Lorna Wing.
