AMEN!!! I abhor those who pile on someone in the name of political correctness!
I hope it comes back to haunt all of them. Especially Deen's publishers Random
House - the latest to have shot themselves in the wallet trying to be
politically correct - and will join all those others who shat upon the Deen
Trademark in the name of being "politically correct".

"Paula Deen got a rare bit of good news on Thursday: Her new cookbook hit No. 1
on the best-seller list at Amazon.com, as thousands of fans - many of them
springing to her defense as she faces accusations of racism - ordered the book
months before its October release. 

But on Friday, its publisher, Random House, said it would not publish the
cookbook, and would cancel a five-book contract it signed with Ms. Deen last
year.

The book deal was one of the last remaining lucrative business relationships
for the embattled celebrity chef. Its cancellation came on a day when Sears,
Kmart and J. C. Penney announced that they would stop selling products,
including cookbooks, branded with her name.

Since last week, the Food Network, Smithfield Foods, Walmart, Target, Caesars
Entertainment, QVC and the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk have decided to
suspend or sever ties with Ms. Deen after her admission in a legal deposition
that she had used racist language in the past and allowed racist, sexist,
homophobic and anti-Semitic jokes in one of her restaurants. Ms. Deen was
deposed on video as part of a discrimination lawsuit filed last year by a

Whatcha bet someone will pick up her publishing deal?

That being said - I'll not be one of the customers for *any* of her books as I
already have quite enough cookery books. And I am no fan of her or her style of
grub. But, I certainly hope that she stands up and flips 'em all the bird.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Blackbird Pie *
 Categories: Game, Puddings, Offal, Pork
      Yield: 4 Servings
 
      8    Blackbirds
    1/2 lb Bacon
    1/2 lb Liver paste
      1 lg Onion
           Handful field mushrooms;
           -  chopped
           Pepper & Salt
      4 oz (1 gill) brown sauce
           Suet Paste
 
  * Traditional Blackbird Pudding Recipe from Somerset
  
  This recipe is taken straight from the handwritten recipe
  book of my Great Grandmother, who was born and bred in the
  Brendon Hills of West Somerset, and is at least one
  hundred years old.
  
  Grease and line a pint and a half pudding basin with good
  suet paste. Bone and clean the blackbirds, stuff each one
  with liver (of a paste-like consistency), wrap each
  blackbird up in a thin strip of bacon, season each piece
  with pepper and salt. Put some pieces of bacon in the
  bottom of the basin, put the rolled-up birds in neatly,
  sprinkle over the chopped onion and mushrooms, pour in the
  brown sauce, fill in with any pieces of bacon left over.
  wet round the edges of the paste, put on the top crust,
  tie it up in a cloth tightly, plunge into boiling water
  and boil gently for two hours.
