==============
Hi Nancy,

NB> carry the NB>> sleigh through the white and driven snow... ;)
 NB> You'd need a bit NB>> more snow for that, probably... ;)

RH> We didn't have any snow, the girls didn't get any either from the
RH> looks of the temperature readings on the weather page of the paper.
RH> Deborah & family went to Nick's mom's for Thanksgiving, not sure what
 RH> Rachel & family did.

NB> I'd not expect them to be getting snow... Arizona and Nevada,
NB> right...? and not in the mountains... ;)

About a half hour's drive from Rachel is Mount Charleston; it gets
plenty of snow in the winter (visible from where they live). She has
also sent pictures of her kids playing in the snow down in LV. OTOH,
Deborah doesn't get much snow in the just south of Phoenix area but
other parts of the state get it. We had it every winter in Fort
Huachuca, in varying amounts. The Flagstaff area has enough snow that
they have several ski resorts.

NB> time... she was aiming NB>> for dinner at 10 or maybe 11 this
NB> morning, and I was only just coming NB>> to getting close to 10...
NB> and it takes a good 40+ minutes to get
NB> there... Oh, well.. won't have her home-baked pies this year, at least
 NB> for this holiday... ;)

RH> She may have saved you some pie--that's an early hour to eat. Did she
RH> do the turkey before or get up really early to put it into the oven?
RH> Steve smoked ours on Wednesday; we ate about 3:30 yesterday.

NB> There probably was pie left over, true... and had we gone down later,
NB> probably would have been able to have some. She might have put the
NB> turkey in the oven the night before, dunno... I didn't ask her. She's
NB> got a fancy oven, though, so it could have started the cooking middle
NB> of the night, for all I know.. :)

So you could have, but just chose not to go for left overs either. I
don't know if I would have left a stuffed bird in an oven set to turn
itself on several hours later. It sounds like a case of food poisoning
waiting to happen; I'd have gotten up early or stayed up late to put the
bird in. Either that or scheduled dinner slightly later in the day.

 NB> NB>> thought... ;) We'll probably be doing that, once Richard's
 NB> up... NB>> he's sleeping in today, too... :)

NB> We did go to Fu's place... had a nice Japanese feast (lunch special
NB> bento boxes), and made Fu and Linh happy that somebody showed up for
NB> their being open on Thanksgiving. There was only a couple of women
NB> there when we came, and a man that showed up... Linh said that was
NB> all there'd been, dunno if they had more customers later after we
 NB> left. :)

RH> We're going up to a seafood place in Rolesville for supper as
RH> yesterday was the 40th anniversary of when Steve proposed, then
RH> took me out for seafood.
 RH> (Later)
RH> Instead of going up to Rolesville we went to the NC Seafood
RH> restaurant at the NC state farmer's market.

NB> Still seafood, though... :) What caused the change in plans...?

Steve wanted to go to Harbor Freight in Raleigh. And, I figured as long
as we were out, I'd check out a specific sale at Belk's.

RH> Huge (!) portion of shrimp, not as
RH> many scallops with cole slaw (good one), hush puppies and home fries
RH> for me; scallops & oysters with same sides for Steve. I brought about
RH> half of mine home. It was fried, calabash (light breading, light
RH> frying) style so my carb count will probably be higher tomorrow.

NB> Sounds pretty good... :) And with all the work you are doing,
NB> probably the extra carbs didn't do much damage at all...

No, my morning readings have been really good the last few weeks, what
with all the packing activity. I was kind of heavy carb pushing last
Saturday but readings were still decent.

RH> On the way home we stopped at Harbor Freight for Steve to get a work
RH> bench (and a few odds & ends,), then at Belk's. I was going to get
RH> one pair of (dress) boots but at $19.95 each, I got 2.

NB> Anniversary presents...? :) Useful things, for sure... :)

Things for the house, alternative to dress shoes (which I'm having
trouble finding) for me. I'll find the shoes eventually but right now
the boots will look good with winter weight clothes.

Catch you later,
Ruth
