Don't hold your breath, it doesn't work that way. I'm
having serious doubts about anybody moderating anything
this summer.

The welcome roaring through of fronts hasn't been happening
here, and the humidity and temperature haven't substantially
changed after our showers. All they've brought us are these
crazy mosquitoes. I feel like I've had one of those allergen
tests over much of my body. Could be worse: day 1 of return
from Italy, Bob got bit by a deer tick. We go to the doctor
today.

Of course the source. I enjoy apparent incongruities, such
as Koreans posting Italian recipes. Naturally I subscribe to
the belief that you don't have to be Jewish to love Levy's,
and you don't have to be Italian to make good Italian food.
Yesterday I made gnocchi with sage and brown butter, pork
cacciatore, and celery salad. The gnocchi were a little
heavy, and any nonna could have done better, but the rest
tasted very like what you'd get on a Sunday table in Italy.

Pan fried potatoes
categories: Christmas, Singapore, side, starch
servings: 8

5 lg potatoes
4 cloves garlic, sliced
thyme & rosemary, to season

Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice into 0.5 cm thick pieces.

Fry some garlic in oil in a frying pan, then add slices to
cover the bottom of the pan. Fry for 5 min on one side, or
until it turns golden brown. Season it.

Flip it over to the other side and fry until golden brown.

Repeat for the remaining potato slices & garlic.
