======================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> As I said, much smaller... ;) Much less chance to be reusing
 NB> NB>> names... ;)

RH> We reused one name (my first, Deborah's middle). Rachel used her dad
RH> and FIL's name for their son, name of one of David's great aunt's for
RH> oldest daughter's first name. Deborah used my dad's first name as
RH> middle name for her younger son so a few are being carried on.

NB> It's good to carry on tradition and family names... With just a few it
NB> doesn't get quite so confusing... ;) Our son got his first initial
NB> and middle name from Richard and Richard's grandfather, whose middle
 NB> name
NB> was also passed down from his father's first name... His first name
NB> happened to be one from my family and also from Richard's mother's
NB> family... but not specifically picked because of that... :)

My mom & dad used a lot of family names. Bill was named for his
grandfathers but it was also the name of Dad's older brother. I think
Marta was the only one not to get a family name. It is interesting to
see how they carry (or not) down generations.

NB> to college NB>> and then away to Arizona. He didn't even meet many
NB> of the cousins NB>> until he finally came back east for Liz's
NB> wedding, they having been NB>> born in the meantime... :)

RH> But, he met them, finally. They probably just thought he was another
RH> grown up, nobody they could play with. (G)

NB> Something like that. ;) His generation is spreading out more, so
NB> there are some of his cousins' kids he's not met, but that's the way
 NB> it goes... :)

We understand. Steve's dad was one of 11 so Steve has lots of cousins
(mostly beyond first) that he doesn't even know.

 NB> RH>>>> grandmother's silver
NB> RH>> There's probably a dozen place settings, not enough for us to
NB> split RH>> and have enough for the family.
NB> NB>> So eventually you'll just have to figure out who wants it
 NB> more... :)

RH> Yes, at some point we will. Hopefully later, but probably sooner than
 RH> we'd like.

NB> I take it that it's still at your parents' house, then...?

Yes, and will stay there for a while yet.

NB> RH>> And if they get splatted with cooking grease or sauce or
NB> whatever, RH>> they can be tossed and a new copy printed.
 NB> NB>> That, too... :)

RH> Helps, having it clean enough to read. (G)

 NB> True. :)

That way you don't mess up the amounts of key ingredients. (G)

NB> RH>> I usually clip a recipe to the range hood; it's easy to follow
NB> RH>> as I'm working and I don't have to find an easily accessable
NB> RH>> place for the cook book.
 NB> NB>> Seems sensible... :) I'm rarely following a recipe that
 NB> NB>> closely... ;)

RH> Some I do, especially if it's something I've never made before. Others
RH> I do, just to keep track of what goes into it. Still others I ignore
RH> any print version of and wing it. (G)

NB> I'm usually in the second or third category... or somewhere in
 NB> between... ;)

I don't fit in any one specific category either; I think that comes from
years of cooking experience.

Catch you later,
Ruth
