======================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> Even so, you can get some interesting anomalies.... When I was
NB> looking NB>> for my Peter Zechariah James Dederick, I had (naturally)
NB> figured that NB>> with a name like that, he'd be the only one with
NB> it... Turned out NB>> that he had a second or third cousin with the
NB> exact same name, of NB>> about the same age, and living in the same
NB> general area... What had NB>> appeared to be a head-scratcher of a
NB> second marriage (dates didn't NB>> figure properly) turned out to be
 NB> a different person's marriage... :)

RH> That is unusual, to have all the same names. (G)

NB> For sure. I'd not have been surprised to see even 2 of the three
NB> repeated, but I certainly wasn't expecting to see that triplet of
NB> names, especially with the Zechariah in the middle, repeated in that
 NB> same generation... :)

Two sets of parents had the same idea for naming their son--must have
really admired the one named Zechariah for both of them to use it.

RH> Back when we were in AZ, Steve had an e-mail from somebody in, IIRC,
RH> New Orleans, asking if he was the Stephen Haffly he'd gone to school
RH> with (in that area). Interesting to find someone else with that name
RH> but no, he wasn't the schoolmate the person was looking for.

NB> That happens much more commonly than one would think. There was a
NB> Richard John Backus at RIT at the same time as Richard (whose middle
NB> name is Judson). The former usually goes by R. John, and is still
NB> local here, but is an accountant... on the other side of town... ;)
 NB> But it
NB> did make for some interesting confusions in the alumni office for a
NB> while, and we do get the occasional call looking for the other guy...
 NB> :)

That could get interesting! (G)

NB> NB>> Or at least not closely so... generally you go back far enough,
NB> you NB>> can find a connection... except probably for surnames based
 NB> on
NB> NB>> occupation... and even then, we're all cousins if you go back
 NB> really NB>> far enough... (G)

RH> REALLY (!) going back far there. (G)

NB> Don't even have to go back to Noah for most of them, either... ;)

But some records were lost by the diaspora.

NB> RH>> Of courst by the time it gets grease splattered, you've probably
NB> made RH>> the recipe enough times to be pretty sure of the amounts
NB> needed of RH>> most all the ingredients.
 NB> NB>> Probably. :)

RH> So the recipe is more of a back up, and verifier at that point.

 NB> Indeed.

Making sure you don't use baking powder for baking soda or vice versa
and one teaspoon of salt instead of one tablespoon kind of thing.

NB> RH>>> I don't fit in any one specific category either; I think that
NB> RH>>> comes from years of cooking experience.
NB> NB>>> And thereby a certain degree of confidence in the kitchen...
NB> :) RH>> Yes, I'm no longer a slave to the cook book, be it a virtual
NB> or an RH>> actual one.
 NB> NB>> Quite.

RH> Allowing me to be as creative as I want. (G)

NB> When you want, anyway... ;)

Which can make things quite interesting, should I desire to do so.

Catch you later,
Ruth
