For me, one of the tests has been how fast I can get up
stairs with Lilli's suitcase in one hand and mine in the
other - that plus my own body weight added up to something
like 240 pounds. Now, even though I'm down below 160, I
am having some trouble just getting me up and down the
stairs. Not long ago I was trying to wrestle my carryon,
my personal item, and a violin onto the admittedly steep
steps on the Amtrak train. The conductor asked if I needed
help, and I said no but promptly collapsed on the second
step. Admittedly the problem had been exacerbated by the
violin flopping crosswise and wedging in the door, but I
didn't have the strength to prevent it from doing so or
to fix the problem when it happened. It took a co-ed
weighing about 100 lb to get me upright and me and my
stuff loaded onto the car as the conductor tut-tutted.

Repeated at new year's eve, when I ordered a lamb shank
and was disappointed when it came this little spindly
thing such as you would get two or even three of in a
manly country such as Australia, but I ended up glad
there was just that much and no more.

Yes.

The onions ideally would have been caramelized or perhaps
just browned or at least wilted through after being chopped
or sliced. Then, yes, they should probably been beneath the
meat. What eventually happened was the onion layers separated
into sheetlike things and tasted and acted slightly sickly and
limp, much of the flavor having escaped into the atmosphere.

And as with much of the population Annie tends to
associate a large appetite with living life to the
fullest and (in many cases) manliness, this distresses
her a bunch.

So I tried one, eating about 5-10 percent of it and
deciding that it was too much for me. I ended up
drinking two cups of water, which sort of helped
despite what the experts say, and eating a slice of
leftover ribeye and some sesame candy, which helped a
bit more.

This large old house should be ideal for ghosts, but I
haven't encountered any, not even of the various kitties
who have lived out their lives here (well, maybe they
are haunting the vet office where they were put down).

Lamb Roast (KHAVOURMA)
cat: Armenian, main
servings: 8

6 lb leg of lamb
1 ts rosemary
1 ts salt
1/4 ts pepper
1 onion, cut in half

Rub leg of lamb with salt and pepper and a cut onion. Leave
the onion in the pan. sprinkle rosemary over roast. Roast at
375F for about 2 hr in an uncovered roasting pan. Remove
roast and onion. Pour hot water in roast pan to loosen brown
gravy. Thicken with small amount of cornstarch and water. (1
ts cornstarch to 1 c water or broth) Stir until thickened.
