I was told by the server that it was mandatory. I didn't quite
believe her, so I challenged her, and she consented to charge
me only for a single, which she failed to do in the end. I've
had a computer crash or two since then, otherwise I'd have
broadcast the name of the place, based on the reneged promise.

If the woman were wonderful enough, I'd be willing to part with
distilled spirits and perhaps confine myself to poultry and
seafood, but on the other hand if she were wonderful enough,
she wouldn't ask me to go even that far. Under no circumstance
would I be induced to give up beer, wine, and duck.

I've been largely unimpressed with the performance of nondried
peas in soups. I suppose the starchy peas generally sold during
my childhood might have done well under that kind of cooking,
but the extra-sweet sweet peas that one gets nowadays, I agree.

Even I, who enjoy spice, would use fewer than 8 peppercorns
but make up for that frugality.

Lamb "brest" can have substantial fat, and there are
those, even Scots, who dislike fat enough to skim it
off their food. I guess Scots might be inclined to make
soap out of their soup, though.

One must in such cases apply the double dare standard and
decline the challenge unless the other party agrees to
perform it as well.

Spicy Bow Tie Salad
cat: salad
servings: 4 to 6

8 oz bow tie pasta, cooked al dente and drained
1/2 c Soy Vay Cha-Cha Chinese Chicken Salad Dressing
1/3 c shredded purple cabbage
1 1/4 c green peas
1/4 c peanuts
1 Tb rice vinegar
1/2 ts hot chili oil

Combine all ingredients; toss well. Chill well.
Mix again before serving.
