I think it's just that we were in so many different places over the
years, we never got settled on too many specific traditions. We adopted
some of the German customs (Saint Nicholas day, advent wreath,....)
while over there but discontinued when we returned, in favor of others
that lasted a bit, then went by the way. One thing we've always done as
members of a church that has one, is participated in the Christmas eve
service. Seemed a bit odd in HI, to come out of it and not see snow, as
we had in AZ and other places. Our current church doesn't do a Christmas
eve service because most of the members are students, and home for that
time frame. For a while, I made home made english muffins for breakfast
but that fell by the way after a while. Something will start eventually.
Don did stockings this year for him, Mom & Dad, Marta, her significant
other & their son and Dad's care giver & housekeeper. He put in the
traditional box of raisins, orange & chocolate bar. I did do that fairly
regularly with Rachel and Deborah when they were young.
