Hiding behind a promotion, or behind the idea that a hot
enough sauce will mask anything, or maybe justifying their
actions by the notion that people who will eat hot food
don't care if it tastes good or is up to standard, only
that it's hot? It used to be said that you should never
buy hot sausage or spicy fried chicken, but by and large
I've found that the (regular) hot products are of equal
quality to the regular.

It's the texture of the potatoes, not that I eat potatoes,
that gets to me.

I can make these dishes better, most of the echo can
probably say the same, but who does?

And I don't have as low an opinion of their RBR as you
guys - maybe my impression is colored by the days when
you got discernible bits of ham. But even today when it
is asserted by some that they just use commercial smoke
flavoring, at least they get the balance right.

The crawfish (likely Chinese and quite spicy) didn't taste
any better than popcorn shrimp.

I still do that, and sometimes they have no idea, sometimes
they figure it out, and sometimes they snootily say "We serve
CAJUN rice," which I guess is both.

---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.00

      Title: Red Beans With Rice
 Categories: Cajun, Main dish
      Yield: 6 servings

      1 lb Red kidney beans                    1    Bell pepper
      1 lb Salt pork                           1    Chopped onion
      2    Cloves garlic                       1    Stalk celery
      1 ts Italian seasoning                   1    Whole hot pepper

  Boil pork 5 minutes to get rid of salt.  Put pork in second water (hot) and
  add beans, water, should be one-half inch above beans. Add immediately, one
  bell pepper, one chopped onion, celery, garlic, Italian seasoning and whole
  hot pepper.  Cook slowly two to three hours, until gravy is thick and beans
  tender -- just before dishing out add a pinch of italian seasoning again.
  Salt to taste and serve with rice. From "Talk About Good" contributed by
