==================
Hi Nancy,

NB> RH>> Beats borrowing up to the eyebrows just to travel.
NB> NB>> For sure. :) And, I have had the chance to do at least a
NB> little NB>> travel as an adult... including 4 different trips to
 NB> Britain... :)

RH> I only got there once, and only to a relatively small part of the
 RH> country. (G)

NB> Ah, but you've been other places instead... :) Most of my adult
NB> travel has been state-side, and most of that has been east coast...
 NB> :)

Still, you've travelled more than some people. When I got the update for
my high school 20 years reunion, it included the addresses of all those
in the class. A good half or more of the 63 were within a 25 mile radius
of Margaretville. Some of them had not been out of the state until our
senior trip to DC. You lived in several different states before you even
graduated from high school; I went to the same school, same building
even, for all 13 years.

NB> I've NB>> done a number of road trips since, mostly for genealogy,
NB> partly just NB>> for family or friends... gets some of the wanderlust
NB> built in by my NB>> childhood out of my system... As I get older,
NB> I'm more willing to NB>> stay put... ;) At least between trips...
 NB> (G)

RH> I wouldn't mind a trip where Steve and I went where we wanted to, saw
RH> what we wanted, when we wanted (IOW, no constraints). I keep seeing
RH> signs for interesting things like the Museum of Women in the Military
RH> or Museum of the Civil War Soldier but we're either going somewhere or
 RH> headed home. Some day.................................

NB> Some day... :) That was something that I liked about my solo trips,
NB> where I set my own schedule... nobody but me to worry about, if I
NB> wanted to work late, or eat whenever... ;) And spur-of-the-moment
NB> decisions to stop in to a museum or whatever... ;)

Some trips are fun to do with a companion also. You can bounce ideas of
where to go, eat, etc off of each other. You also have a companion for
meals; it's more enjoyable to eat with someone than by yourself.

NB> NB>> I actually hadn't heard of it until the echo, and the talk about
NB> NB>> planning that first picnic I went to... but then going from the
NB> NB>> picnic, where I'd just tried it, to that year's family camping
NB> NB>> where I could brag on it to people like my brother that already
NB> HAD NB>> known about it, that was just icing on the cake... ;)

RH> Like when my sister was bragging about living in a gated community--
RH> we said that we did too, and our gates were guarded--with armed guards
RH> (military housing). Took the wind out of her sails. (G)

NB> Rob was a little envious, but he's had lots of other experiences that
NB> I've not had, so we are pretty much even... :) Fun to take the wind

A big family means that more than one person usually has the opportunity
to see/try different things. One of my younger sisters and younger
brother went to Italy on a 3 week study tour in high school. Neither one
has been out of the country except to Canada (while living at home)
otherwise. Other than Canada, I never got out of the USA until about 3
months before I got married. We never thought we'd travel much, then
Steve joined the Army and, as they say, the rest is history.

NB> out of sails, but that doesn't happen much... But you certainly
 NB> one-uped the braggart there... ;)

T'was the truth. (G)

 NB> NB>>> ... It's amazing how pervasive food is.
 NB> RH>> It's everywhere!
 NB> NB>> And a good thing that is... (G)

RH> Very much so! Somebody like Euelle Gibbons would find food in places
 RH> we'd overlook.

NB> No matter where you are, people have to eat something... ;)

Like breathing, a basic, necessary part of living.

Catch you later,
Ruth
