I was going to send this but my appendicitis intervened.
The last meal listed was the one before I essentially
melted down in indescribable pain. I still don't blame the
place for what probably had been brewing for a long time.

Blue Plate Diner

This isn't in Provincetown but rather in Dennis or
Yarmouth, on the way. It happened to be handy when my
stomach started rumbling. It's not a free-standing diner
but rather in a small strip mall, but it was kind of
busy when my friend Link and I got there, a good sign.
We had burgers, hers I believe of the Garden variety.
Mine was sort of the epitome of an old-style burger,
tasting of grease and overdone meat (both in a good
way) and on a squishy soft bun, toasted and buttered,
an improvement since I got a taste for this type of
sandwich back in the 1950s. Fries were terrible. The
service was friendly in a small-town way, and actually
the meal as a whole was enjoyable. Moderately cheap.

Governor Bradford

There's something about a half-empty restaurant - if
you can afford to wait, you avoid it like the plague
and go elsewhere; if you're "stahved" you're thankful
for it. We were hungry and were, on the whole, thankful.

Calamari rings were your standard thing from a frozen
bag. They were good enough, served with dipping sauces
of tartar and cocktail. I think they also had had some
garlic drizzled on (I had only a couple).

A couple pounds of steamers in white wine and basil
were excellent, though a few of the clams were sandy.
I could have eaten these all day. Link is allergic to
clams but as I waxed enthusiastic just had to try one;
luckily her troubles were not triggered by it.

Guinness and Blue Moon on tap; guess which one I had.
A Cape Cod Blonde for seconds - a bit hopper than I'd
expect of a blonde, but it cleansed the palate well and
(more importantly) was cheaper than Guinness.

The Lobster Pot

This is the alternative place. An out-the-door line,
almost too loud to carry on a conversation even in the
vestibule. Appears to be making money hand over fist.

Oak Vineyards Chardonnay, had while waiting for a table:
this was silly with oak and had almost no other flavor.
It was decent as an aperitif, though in retrospect a
beer would have been a good idea.

Ch. Ste. Michelle Dry Riesling with the meal: this had
lots of tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), good acid,
and was a little off dry, which given the dishes was
quite okay.

Link had chowder, which was very good (I had a taste).
A standard, somewhat thick version with lots of clams
and (points off) lots of potatoes.

Seared tuna tartare, served with crunchy noodles and
seaweed salad, was delightful except for a strange
lemony-soy dressing that luckily could be pushed off
to one side.

A lobster mango cocktail was more avocado than anything
else, which was fine, as I like avocado. What lobster
there was was tender and crisp and good. Mango was just
an accent.
                   
The Waterford Inn

The place advertisers $1 oysters, so in we went. It
turns out that it serves local Cape oysters for $2 or
2.5o, and the $1 specials are from the James River in
Virginia. Turns out I like mid-Atlantic oysters almost
as well as the Wellfleets and Cotuits, so I had a bunch
of the cheapies, which were pretty good, excellent at
the price.

We split a fried fisherman's platter, which was huge
(far too many potatoes) and had shrimp, clams, scallops,
and a big piece of slightly yesterday hake. Pretty good,
and as I got all the clams, a good deal for me.
