I was never in the Scouts... probably a combination of factors, such as
lack of availability some places we lived... when we were in the Philly
area, I went to a Campfire Girls group... not quite the same...

It could be interesting...  :)   There's a family story (on my maternal
gmother's side) that somehow we are related to (or descended from, which
is even less likely) Mary Queen of Scots... so far, nothing I've found
bears that out...  except as a very distant relation...

As long as one can figure it out... ;)

I think it's less that than just being a very genealogically oriented
society...  If you notice, most/many Hispanics have surnames that
incorporate both the father and the mother's surnames... often in the
[name] y [name] form... and maternal lineage is every bit as important
as paternal..  :)
