Squirrels are pretty much vermin and pestiferous. Especially urban squirrels
who will test your ingenuity in designing a bird feeder that they cannot raid
for seeds, etc. Not to mention their being speed bumps on many streets.

Although I wouldn't mind the bushy-tailed rats raiding my bird feeding station.
Whenever there gets to be too much dooky on my car I put out some D-Con to thin
their feathers. So, Slappy Squirrel is more than welcome to share.  Bv)=

Had to run out last evening and do some shopping. I started to make my sausage
meatballs and when I went to take the eggs out of the ice box the carton felt
empty - even though I could see eggs through the opening in the top of the
carton. Then it dawned on me that the carton had been in the back of the reefer
for over two years. So, off to ALDI where a dozen large eggs were on sale for
49c/dozen (limit two) and milk (in the next door) was 69c/gallon (limit six).
Apparently the dairy wars are heating up around here. It snaffled two dozen
eggs and two gallons of whole milk. So, besides the meatballs I can see some
creamed (whatever) in my future.

      Title: Dirty Dave's Spicy Meatballs
 Categories: Five, Pork, Cheese, Breads, Vegetables
      Yield: 24 meatballs

      2 lb Hot Italian sausage
    1/2 c  Bread crumbs
    1/2 c  Thin sliced green onions
      4 tb Grated Parmesan or Asiago
      2 lg Eggs

  In medium bowl, add sausage, bread crumbs, onions, cheese
  and egg. Mix thoroughly. Shape into 24 meatballs.

  Cook over med-low heat, turning frequently, until brown.

  Serves 6 with pasta and red gravy

      Title: Squirrels in Cream Sauce
 Categories: Game, Vegetables, Beef, Citrus, Dairy
      Yield: 3 servings

      2    Squirrels; cleaned, cut in
           - serving pieces
      1 md Onion; very fine dice
    1/2 ts Leaf thyme
      4 oz Can sliced mushrooms;
           - drained
      1 c  Beef bouillon
      1 c  Dairy sour cream
      2 tb Lemon juice
      3 tb Flour
           Minced parsley

  Soak squirrel in salted water overnight in refrigerator.

  Remove squirrel pieces and rinse. Discard salted water.

  Place squirrel, onion, thyme and mushrooms in a crock pot.
  Pour in bouillon.

  Cover and cook on "low" for 8 to 10 hours.

  Remove squirrel to a warm platter.

  Combine sour cream, lemon juice and flour. Stir sour cream
  mixture into crock pot. Turn on high and cook until thickened.

  Spoon sauce over squirrel and sprinkle with parsley.
