At one point I was cautious enough to have trained myself to
hold my breath for maybe two minutes of full activity. Just tried
that now and barely got it up 45 seconds, so I'm out of practice.

Lilli actually got to remove the exit door and throw it out, as she
was in the exit row window seat.

Went to a concert last night! in the snow! Jeu de Cartes, which was
sort of Rite ritualized and emasculated, but still an amazingly
entertaining piece. I hadn't heard it since maybe the '80s, so that
was a nice reacquaintance. Also on the program were the Elvira
concerto and Sibelius 5, which I hadn't listened to since the early
'70s (but have heard a few times as have been stuck in orchestras
performing the pieces) and which were less welcome. Rhode Island
Philharmonic, Larry Rachleff conducting, Joyce Yang soloist. She
has no humor, rushes the hard parts, tries to ham up the romantic
parts without success. Not a bad performance, just a quintessentially
Asian one.

I've answered both questions in previous posts, but the
gist is, yes and no and yes and no.

I think Steven enjoys it, but he's such a sad sack in general
that it's hard to tell.

There's the oh, I left this in the oven and forgot it, but
it's probably okay phenomenon.

Harking back to our previous discussion, a quick calculation
gives this recipe about a 500 S.U. rating overall -

Servings: 4

1 1/2 lbs meat or poultry, cubed 1"
1 lg onion, finely chopped
8 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 oz fresh ginger, finely chopped
3 Tb ghee or 3 Tb oil
14 oz canned tomatoes
1 Tb tomato ketchup
1 Tb tomato puree
12 dried or fresh chilies (birdseye work well)
h - Spices
1 ts cumin, ground
1 ts coriander, ground
3 ts chili powder (dried, ground chiles such as cayenne)
1 ts dried fenugreek leaves (optional)
1 ts garam masala

Fry the meat in a pan in half the ghee or oil, until sealed
(5 to 10 min). Set aside.

Fry the onion, garlic and ginger until golden in remaining
ghee or oil.

Mix the spices with a little water to make a paste.

Add to the onion mixture and cook for 10 min.

Add the tomato (tinned, ketchup, and puree) and chilies.
Cook for a further 10 min.

Combine the meat and all ingredients in a casserole dish
and cook in a preheated 400F oven for 45-60 min.
(Alternatively, add meat back to the pan with the mixture
and cook covered on low heat for an hour. At this stage
you can also just throw it all into the slow cooker if
you prefer.).
