NB>>>> Worth the work, then. :)
RH>>> Very good, and going to be repeated, maybe at an echo picnic?
 NB>>> I'd look forward to it... :)
RH>> Have to figure out where and when the picnic will be this year. Then
RH>> look at our schedule and see if it's do-able, and go from there.
NB>> Still far enough in the future....

RH> Yes, but we've already made a committment for part of August already.

True, as I have for part of July.. :)

NB>>> and you can't do things in the garden for a little while
 NB>>> yet anyway... :)
RH>> Today would have been a good day for it (we were in the 70s!) but it's
RH>> to chill off again tomorrow, with the possiblility of snow/freezing
RH>> rain. Steve did some under the house work today so he can do inside
 RH>> work tomorrow.
NB>> If it's only one day, one might as well let something else take
NB>> priority... is the ground workable yet anyway...? I'd work inside
NB>> if there were snow/freezing rain outside, too.. ;) Plenty to be
NB>> done as it is, of course... :)

RH> Normal highs are supposed to be in the upper 50s/low 60s this time of
RH> year. We will have a couple of days like that, then down to the low
RH> 50s later next week. The last frost is normally around the 3rd week or
RH> so of April but we can start ground prep before then if we want to put
 RH> a garden in.

As long as temps are in the 50's consistently, the ground should warm up
well enough to be worked, even if it isn't safe to plant yet... Sounds
like you are about a month or so ahead of us, at least normally... :)

RH>> We've had a couple of bad winters. Part of it is from the weather,
RH>> part from people not knowing enough to stay in and out of the weather.
NB>> Snow's been reaching down further south than usually expected, I've
NB>> seen... And when weather isn't the norm, people don't necessarily know
NB>> how to deal with it... nor is the equipment there to deal with it,
 NB>> either...

RH> You would think they'd have a bit more snow removal stuff than they
RH> do, seeing as we get some almost every year. We also get more ice than
RH> you do, and you can't plow that. Some people think they can drive on
RH> it, but those are the ones you see on TV sliding all over the road.

Ice gets salted around here... sometimes it helps... ;) The snow plows
have salt speaders on the back...

NB>>> We did, however, just survive the coldest February on record
 NB>>> since 1871, here... ;)
RH>> I don't recall what ours was in relation to previous Februaries,
RH>> but it was cold and wet.
NB>> Ours just didn't let up all month... it was snowier than it's
 NB>> been, too...

RH> Hopefully ours is done for the season but I'm not holding my breath.

I wish ours was, but I know better... ;/

NB>>> Dunno if that was a record for them or not, though... :)
RH>> Depends on what part of the state. Down near the gulf, it most likely
RH>> would have been a record.
NB>> I'm not sure where that snowfall actually was, only heard it on news
NB>> briefs, so only the state, not the specifics... We were living in
NB>> Jackson when we were there... :)

RH> OK, near the Alabama border. We've got some friends in Alabama that
RH> aren't too far from Jackson.

Not that near the Alabama border, closer to Louisiana actually.. but
easily near the middle of the state N-S... But the state isn't as wide
as some we are used to... ;)

 RH>> SHRIMP CREOLE
 RH>> Serves 6.
NB>> And did you get 3 meals from it....? (G) We find that things
NB>> that say 4 servings are often just enough for the two of us for
 NB>> one meal.. ;)

RH> I only had about half a pound of shrimp so got supper for both of us,
RH> and a light lunch for me out of it. Lots of sauce because I didn't cut
 RH> down the recipe.

So if sauce made the meal, it might have served closer to 6... ;)
Especially if one used extra bread or such to soak it up well.. ;)
But, true, a half pound of shrimp wouldn't stretch that far
gracefully.... ;) Unless it were casserole style and had lots of starch
and veggies...
