When our son was 15 1/2, he bought a handy-man-special called a 1972
Pinto hatchback.  He spent the next six months working on it in our
garage doing various repairs -- from replacing the exhaust system to
repairing body cancer (which was more extensive than first thought).  He
got it road worthy about the time he got his driving liscense.  After
about six months, a teen ager driving his mother's station wagon boat
rammed into the rear end while the Pinto was parked in front of our
house.   Fortunately, a police car was coming the other way and did a
180 to chase the teen ager down as he was speeding away.  Their
insurance company tried to offer us only about $150 because of the age
of the car (13 years old).  We did manage to convince them that no one
could buy a car that had recently passed MD State Inspection for less
than $1500, and they settled for that.  At least he got back the money
he had put into the car, but not much extra for the work he had done on
it.

      Title: Bruschetta With Tomato, Basil, And Mozzarella Relish
 Categories: Appetizer, Relishes, Cheese, Tomato
      Yield: 1 servings
 
      1 lb Ripe plum tomatoes, peeled
           And seeded
      2 md Garlic cloves, minced
      3 tb Finely chopped fresh basil
      1 tb Finely chopped Italian
           Parsley
      2 tb Extra virgin olive oil
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Coarse black pepper
    1/4 lb Fresh Mozzarella, cut into
    1/2    Cubes
      1 md Baguetter, French 1
           Sourdough or Italian bread
           Cut into 1/2 inch slices
      2 lg Garlic cloves, peeled
      2 tb Extra virgin olive oil
           Freshly ground black pepper
 
  Enjoy serving this rustic Italian appetizer while the rest of your
  dinner is cooking on the grill.  Prepare the relish a few hours ahead
  and when the coals are at their hottest, put the bread on the grill.
  Assemble just before serving.  This is one of those dishes that can
  be addictive, so don't serve too many or your friends won't have room
  for dinner!
  
  Dice tomatoes into 1/2 inch pieces; drain over a bowl for 1/2 hour to
  remove excess liquid.  Combine all relish ingredients except the
  Mozzarella cheese in a small non aluminum bowl.  Stir well and taste
  for seasoning. Prepare grill for medium hot grilling.  Place the
  bread on the grill; grill each side just until marks of the grill
  appear.  Remove from grill and place on serving platter.  Rub the
  bread pieces on each side with cut edges of the peeled garlic cloves.
  Add cheese to the relish, spoon mixture over each baguette slice and
  then drizzle the final 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil over top.
  Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper and serve.  Makes 6
  servings.
