Probably longer prep time, actually. It took about an hour to cook the
chicken, then we cooled it overnight. Doing the finer deboning took a
good bit of time, as I wanted to make sure there were no little bones in
it. After that, the rest of the prep probably took another hour or so,
until the final assembly time.

 SH> For the chicken: Place the chicken, onion, garlic and BAY LEAVES in a

I cooked the chicken without the extras, but will put them in next time
as the broth was on the bland side. I have the "Better than...."
chicken soup base. For the vegetable mix, I used 1/4 each carrots, peas
amd frozen beans. I used not quite the full amount of celery, topping it
off with chopped onion. The onion and clery were cooked with the
carrots.

The sauce recipe was doubled, had enough chicken to put some extra into
the freezer for other meals. I increased the crust recipe by 50% to use
for 2 13x9 pans, but had left over crust. There was no left over sauce
to pass. Also, in making the sauce, I used (for the double recipe) 3
sticks of butter and 1/2 cup of fat skimmed from the chicken broth.

The child with dairy allergies had no trouble with this. We served it
with a tossed salad and pies for dessert. Some salad greens and pie was
left over, but not a bit of the main dish. A 5 year old picky eater
pronounced it "really, really good".
