That's sort of what I was wondering. Of course, I
have some wonders about Amazon's business model, as
it appears to me to be a huge enormous massive Ponzi
scheme, but somehow investors drool over it and it
remains highly capitalized. I will be dead when
people figure it out, but they will eventually, if
the human race is worth keeping.

Sure. But you and I were idiots once, like the author of
the review, and you and I were smug little jerks, too,
like the "author" of the Eater "article." I speak for
myself and maybe overextrapolate, and maybe not.

The Eater article is a straight rip, as most of its
content is direct quotation from the original, the
only contribution being a judicious excision of a
few explanatory words from the admittedly hilariously
underinformed (ok, stupid) original.

 JW> mainly a shot of cinnamon fireball and then rum as well, but the

Well, the background information, showing the author
to be a novice in the alcohol department, sort of like
Winston Smith, puts it all into context:

And ditto. Bear in mind if you or I wrote that a cucumber
looked almost like a cucumber, our loyal audiences, if such
there are, would automaticaly sense that there was some
ironic intent here. Here, the background appears to be
merely that the person doesn't care for normal pickles.

 It was different but very tasty, and I usually ask for no 
 pickles or onions on mine. But this time I decided to add
 them to the burger, and the pickles themselves are like
 nothing I have ever tasted or seen before. They were very
 thinly sliced and looked almost like a cucumber.

 I personally could have eaten the pickles any time and
 been happy.

I'm also a little suspicious that "looked" is a typo for
"tasted."

My appetite whetted more for this kind of blood rather
than the absolutely delicious leftover chicken a la king
made with cayenne (depleting my hosts' supply, originally
about half a cup when I arrived here ten days ago, now
down to a teaspoon or so) instead of paprika, I went on
line to find other things to be outraged by. And I did!

So at Forbes I found the title "Is Guy Fieri's Restaurant
Really That Bad?" and slouched over there to see what was
what, discovering that the body offers zero insight or
answer to that question, because its author has not
actually eaten there!

 While I do not know anything about his food, I have a
 pretty informed opinion of him as a food "expert."
...
 I imagine that if Guy's American Kitchen & Bar is as bad
 as [Pete] Wells says it is, the simple explanation could
 be that its creator thinks that any food is good food,
 the recurring message of his show. In any case, I'm
 fascinated by the whole drama, and like I said, I haven't
 eaten there. Have you?

I always took anything in Forbes with a grain of salt; I've
decided to alter my estimation downward and to figure that
anything in its pages is a lie unless otherwise proven.

Journalism seems to have gone downhill in the way teaching
has, and people who write for the Renegade Rip grow up and
write for Forbes, because if they had any brains, they
would go off and become lawyers - I've always hypothesized
that the cream of the underprivileged (i.e., women and
minorities) who used to go into teaching and writing because
more lucrative professions were barred to them now become
lawyers and doctors as the money is better.

By the way, "like I said" is lazy ignorant writing anywhere.
