Ärende: Satirday Pocnic

Hi Folks

where to start?  Just got back from 3day bus tour around Lake George, and
then 3 days at the 
Echo Picnic.   B4 all that my latest diet  had me down from 258 to 243.  
The day after the 
picnic I topped on the scales at 250 !!!

which brings me to sort of confession...  sometime or other in the last
year or so, someone 
who's initials are Old Fart B.F. made a comment that he missed the old time
picnics of 15 or so 
years ago when 35  or 45 people attended, resulting in endless kinds and
styles of food.  That 
O.F.B.F. (a lowly Eat at that)  never stopped to think how thoughtless that
sounded to the few 
cooks left at picnics now-a-days.

when this years picnic unfolded into a 3 day marathon of a wild variety of
special foods the Old 
Fart finally came to... folks were going way out of their way to make an 
"Old Fashioned Picnic"
of a huge variety of foods.   Mercy, mercy, Mersey!  Talk about
embarrassment!   And gratitude!

Neither  Shirley or I can remember that endless variety of foods but let me
try... at Kracht's 
house around 2pm we had some left over strata that seemed great to me,  
But I heard cooks 
saying it (very low milk Content for maker Janis, and eater MLoo) needed
more liquid.   Oh?  I'd 
not had it before and I loved it.  Butch insisted I've had it... but she
does not Have my superb 
memory.  Today she convinced me I have had it several times as what I
classified as a 
casserol.  Janis's had a nice bread layer that I doted on.  I also had  a
half slice of  non-gluten 
almond flour cake that Janis had made earlier.   I missed the gluten.   (g)

 Then I Had some cold leftover  gizzards that Janis made with make believe
Shake 'N Bake.  I    
haven't had hearts and gizzards before and they were great. very nice
flavor.    Later Michael 
heated them up and they were even better.  There was a flight of chocolate
candy that us folks 
gobbled up with delight, but ML later said did not satisfy his jones for
chocolate.. not sure but I 
think because the level of cacao was not high enough.   Like me, I Think he
likes chocolate that 
is very high in cacao, and in my terms less sweet somewhat  bitter.  But I
suck up the sweet 
chocolate too.

Then came the fried shrimp shells which were very crisp and tasty.  Never
had it before and 
liked them very muchly.  They were done with olive oil, salt and pepper.  
The shells were 
saved from Dale's shrimp Jambalyia - made with Andiulle sausage.   That was
made and 
attacked sometime before we arrived.  But I had several helpings of
leftovers.  It was lovely with 
the Andiulle really pepping up the dish to hotter levels than D&G have made
it in the past.  Butch 
and I loved the heat level.
