Back then I think teachers were underinvolved in
child welfare, maybe as much as they can be
overinvolved now. Anyhow, as I recall, I was
questioned once and said that my father was taking
care of it, and thenceforth I was allowed to go to
the sink at the back of the room as needed and
clean and dress the wound. This went on all school
year. In first grade, there wasn't a sink in the
back of the room.

Some nerve damage and a scar that was visible until
maybe a decade ago. Psychologically probably some too.

I don't know what tegiderm is, as I am not myself an
intervention advocate (as we've discussed). It was thick,
waterproof, non-breathable, about 2" diameter, and had
very strong adhesive, which is one reason why I didn't
try to pull it off sooner.

In many cases it's the other way round. Mental memory
fails, but muscle memory comes to the rescue.

yield: 1 batch

200 g Flour
1 ts Baking Soda
75 g Margarine or Butter
75 g Sugar
1 pk Vanilla sugar
1 Egg, optional

Always successful shortcrust

Preparation time 10 min
Resting time 1 hr

Mix flour with baking soda. Distribute margarine or
butter on it in pats. Add sugar, vanilla sugar, egg.
Knead with your hands until a smooth dough is formed.
Cover and let rest 1/2 hr in the refrigerator.

The dough can be used as a tart base or as a cookie
dough. Simply roll out, cut out cookies, bake; after
cooling, spread with chocolate spread.

M's note: for cookies, use a bit more sugar.
