============================
Hi Nancy,

NB> in on NB>> the house...? Plus, there is your mom's burial still to
 NB> plan...

RH> I think the burial will be a simple service, not much to plan but
RH> thanks for the reminder. I need to remind Don to touch base with the
RH> pastor (or see if Steve will do it) to start laying out basic plans.

NB> I was thinking more in terms of the timing... but yes, the actual
NB> service would take some planning too.. :) Even if it is kept quite
 NB> simple.. :)

I mentioned it to Don; he said the undertaker will take care of things
at the right time. (Sounds like he's passing the buck.) We're aiming for
an early May burial but he said the ground is frozen up to 8' in some
areas & there have been a lot of deaths this winter. So, we'll see what
happens, when.

RH> As far as the house goes, we began a bit of it a couple of years
RH> ago but are now moving into a serious "push to finish" phase. The
RH> majority of what I want is small stuff, but have to put in claims
RH> for it so if overlapping ones are made, we can decide who gets what.

NB> And now it won't seem quite so much like being the circling vultures.
 NB> ;)

Not quite the circling vultures, but still sort of feels like it. IF
(and it's a big one) Dad ever gets to come home, we don't want the house
stripped.

NB> garbage disposal). NB>> True, the soil test would give you a better
 NB> sense for what is
NB> NB>> needed... Composting almost always helps enrich the soil,
 NB> NB>> though... :) It's a good ecological practice, too... :)

RH> The compost barrel has been started. Looks like the back yard is
RH> mostly clay, a clay/sand mix out front. Amazingly, stuff grows, but
RH> don't know how well veggies would do.

NB> In any case, the compost will only help... :)

For sure, even tho we can't grow any veggies this year. I guess we could
put some containers on the deck but would need a watering system for
whenever we were gone.

NB> bit below NB>> for highs... and we had some snow in the air a little
 NB> while ago,
NB> NB>> seems to have stopped now... :)

RH> We're too warm for snow right now but its been a yo-yo week and it
RH> looks like next week will be the same. I'm keeping the flannel sheets
RH> on the bed at least another week. (G)

NB> One can always toss off the blankets if it gets too warm... but the
NB> flannel is handy for those colder nights... ;)

We're having another front come thru tonight and tomorrow. Just rain
from it is expected but Sunday night they're saying we may go into the
upper 20s. Don't want to plant veggies yet! Hopefully it'll kill some of
the pollen tho; it's hit me full force the last few days.

NB> We finshed NB>> the rest of the boiled dinner last night for
 NB> supper...

RH> We've got a bit left, enough for a small meal for 2 or a hearty one
 RH> for one person.

NB> You either had smaller portions of the meat, or you bought a larger
NB> chunk of meat to begin with...

Probably a bit of both; I don't remember the weight of the cut.

RH> We finished the Lowe's Italian sausage for lunch; that one is
RH> worth buying again. Might check out some of the other store made
RH> ones and see if they're as good.

NB> Worth a try... if they are, you've got more choices... if not, you
NB> know which ones not to get again... ;)

I'm a bit hesitant on some, reading the ingredients listing. I figured
Italian sausage couldn't be too hard to mess up so I'd try it first.
Just wish they'd ditch the cutsey names.

NB> they RH>> suggest or pasta. It's most authentic with rice.
NB> NB>> Of course. :) The other would be Shrimp Creole Casserole...
NB> not NB>> really the same thing... :) And not necessary for a meal
 NB> for just NB>> two people... :)

RH> It would need more stuff added to make it a decent casserole. I'd
RH> also use smaller shrimp. The medium/large ones I used were good for
RH> creole style but a rice, sauce, shrimp casserole would be better
 RH> with the small ones.

NB> Possibly... :) maybe not large ones for casserole, but medium would
NB> have the advantage of being more obviously there... :)

Smalls would as well, but not the extra smalls. The smalls would be
about the smallest I'd like to go in terms of being easy to peel &
devein.
