======================
ML> Most of the time, not so much. I was going to say that I'm glad
ML> not to suffer chronic conditions, but then legal blindness and
ML> permanent heart failure (recently revealed to me as in the late
ML> 20s when I had thought it had improved to the 30s) probably
 ML> qualify as such.
 NB> Probably. :)

Subsequent to my discussion with Dirty Dave about traveling
all over while in cardiorespiratory compromise, I've started
puffing up more than usual. I sort of panicked when I opened
my pillbox and found the Lasix chamber empty. How could I be
so stupid as to forget this essential. So I called in an
emergency scrip, which got filled by the local CVS in minutes.
Total cost to me - $2 or 2.2c a pill, less than anything but
maybe aspirin. Later I was looking in my passport case and
found all these little white pills loose in it. Turns out of
course that the lid had popped and flooded the passport case
in Lasix, so now I have extra, which I'm using. It's now 0600,
and Swisher is sleeping a foot away, having woken me up at
0130 for his own medical problem. Speaking of which, he did a
dummy by leaving the hoses for his IV back home, which required
another panicked call to his doctor's office, which arranged
for a supply to be delivered this evening after the game, but
the deliveryman went to 1415 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale
whereas we were at 1415 North Scottsdale Road in Tempe. Coupled
with the fact that 1415 North Scottsdale Road in Tempe is in a
part of Tempe that is north of the river, so people think that
it's in Scottsdale, well, it took a while for the deliveryman
to figure that out.

ML> them. And in fact if United/Continental severely devalues or takes
ML> away my 600000 miles, I'm gone to OneWorld right away, but if it
ML> treats me ok, I'll stay.
NB> Seems like a reasonable fear that should be addressed... :) One can
NB> be fiercely loyal, but with enough reason to undermine that loyalty,
NB> even that one can decide that enough is enough... :)

I was never fiercely loyal. US Air and Alaska got enough
that for a few years I was "elite" on all three airlines.
"If only I'd given you all my business." The problem is
that every program is either in jeopardy or making changes
that are hostile to me, or both.

ML> We have $20-30K to give away, but in my opinion none of our
ML> applicants is worth doodly squat, and I'd sooner give out $0. I
ML> doubt that my other committee colleagues will think this way,
ML> but I've discovered that even smart people are usually stupid.
NB> Richard's ex-employer (from EET) apparently had the grant bullshit
NB> down pat... and apparently also wasn't encountering any donors that
NB> recognized the emperor's new clothes aspect of the proposals...

I hate that, but so it goes.

ML> I will have a lot of food consumption, including interesting
ML> stuff, in the next weeks, but there may not be enough time to
ML> chronicle it all, in which case starting April 2 or so I'll be
ML> posting trip reports, such as the long-promised bbq ones.
NB> That sounds right nice... ;) I'll be looking for them... ;)

Starting today, thanks to the Lasix.

ML> but for obvious reasons it can't extend all the way). For
 ML> future reference: seat 21A or F on the 737-800 and -900.
NB> Interesting. :) Give Bill our regards.. and Hap, too, if he connects

Also, seat 23A or F on the A321 - these have room for the elbow
to protrude into the exit door area, plus they have no 22A or F,
so one gets all the stretch one can use. 23A is somewhat superior,
because 23F has a regular seat two rows in front, while 23A has
a crew jumpseat facing, which means that for takeoff and landing
one gets to look at a cute flight attendant (the most recent one,
two days ago, looked to be a 20-something half-Asian brunette).

Bill says hello to everyone if they remember who he is.

Yesterday, for the first time in my adult life, I shared a bed
with a guy - the hotel screwed up the reservation and gave us a
king room with all the twins sold out (spring training makes a
disproportionate number of Just Friends bookings). Luckily,
neither of us is huge, and neither of us snores too badly, and
we were farther apart in the one giant bed than tonight in two
separate ones. Strangely, tomorrow's hotel also screwed up
the reservation, but there were still two rooms available with
the right number of beds, so that got fixed. For the weekend,
Lilli joins us, so there are three customers, two rooms, three
beds.

NB> with y'all... I noted that his birthday was yesterday (from the Doc's
 NB> bulletin 14)... ;)

I haven't been on Facebook lately, which is my only source for
birthday information. If I remember to go back there in the
next week or two I'll wish him a happy one.
