Hi Ruth,

 RH> > RH> that mean your
RH> > RH> > mother will have to do all the cooking?

RH> > RH> She does a lot of it anyway. I do most of the
 RH> hunting
 RH> > RH> and gathering.

RH> > Trade offs to each other's strong points. Hopefully you
 RH> were well
RH> > provisioned before the MS flare and all. Nothing like
 RH> running low on
RH> > stuff and having to go shopping when not feeling well.

RH> I did it anyway today - after two estate sale trips. The
RH> second one wasn't worth the effort. The house is stocked

Some goodies at the first one tho?

RH> to the rafters with stuff, but fresh produce and cat food
RH> have to be replaced no matter what.

Got that! Cats will play Morris if you don't have what they want. Had to
laugh, saw an ad for Purina (?) or Friskies (?), one of the two--with a
"research institute" for cats, trying the new 7 flavors cat food. I
guess no pickiness to those cats if they like all 7 flavors mixed
together in one bowl.

RH> > RH> Same here more or less. There's enough left for a
 RH> > RH> sandwich or two.

RH> > We've got lots of pastrami now in the freezer but no
 RH> more corned beef. I
RH> > might see if there are any stray ones when I make my
 RH> next grocery run.

RH> I always watch for the markdown stickers.

It depends on how close to pay day and the fullness of the freezer for
me, for meats and suchlike. Other, less or non perishable things, if
they're reasonable enough and the extra money is there. I'll grab right
away.

RH> > RH> Or a known food dish filler. That counts for a
 RH> lot.

RH> > Since they can't get their paws around a can opener,
 RH> you're elected.

RH> Yep - that or the pull tab.

Last cat we had knew the sound of the drawer where I kept the can
opener. She'd come running whenever I opened the drawer, even if it was
for something else.

RH> > RH> > No, she was teaching how to plan events for
 RH> women in a
 RH> > RH> church. Anything

 RH> > RH> Sounds like someone handy.

RH> > Someone needs to pass on the knowledge to others, who,
 RH> in turn, will
RH> > pass it on to still others. All useful stuff to know.

RH> Most definitely, especially since most people can't learn
RH> from their mothers these days. Mom may be at the other
RH> end of the country and not know any of it in the first
 RH> place.

It's not as well known as it would have been at one time. Then, too,
different churches have different ways of handling things so it helps to
know a number of ways to handle some situations. The church our
instructor is a member of, has a bereavement committee that comes into
the home with all kinds of paper goods (among other things) to help when
a member passes away. Our instructor had heard about that but saw it in
action when her husband passed away. Nice, not to have to worry about
things like paper plates, napkins, cups, etc.

 RH> > RH> I'd still need name tags for a while.

RH> > It was all folks that have been there for a while so no
 RH> name tags
 RH> > needed.

RH> Heating pads and foot rests maybe, but not name tags?

Some of us, yes, but had some younger folks as well. Preaching pastor is
only in his mid 30s.

RH> > Back in 1996, we had 8-10 inches in southeastern AZ
 RH> about the 3rd week
RH> > of April. Rachel had to go to Flagstaff for All State
 RH> choir; she said
RH> > the music teacher was driving very slow and careful.

RH> No snow removal equipment, no sand, and no traction.
 RH> Yep.

We had the possibility of flurries this morning but Steve said he didn't
see any. Tonight is supposed to get into the low 20s, but clear. Last
night we had the remnants of a storm in the area.

Catch you later,
Ruth
