It's probably easier to rent an unfurnished house but a furnished
apartment. When Steve went into the Army, his language training was in
Monterey, CA. We knew it was to be a short term assingment (9 months) so
we rented a furnished apartment. The eat in kitchen was tiny, the table
even smaller. But, it was home for a few months, and we got to
experience CA, trying calamari and guacamole for the first time. We then
moved to San Angelo, TX for about 4 months, rented a furnished mobile
home. Again, not much, but it was home. First duty station was Fort
Hood, TX and we rented an unfurnished house in Copperas Cove. It was my
first place ever (!) with a dish washer. We had to buy some furnishings,
some were new, others were 2nd hand but they made the place live-able.
We then moved to military quarters on post for about a year, then went
to Germany. At that time, we couldn't take much with us but quarters
there were furnished. We'd given away or sold some furniture and some
went into storage so when we came back, we bought some that we still
have. We've added or subtracted from it as the housing changed over the
years.

I've seen a lot of different appetiser recipies over the years but never
seen one like this before. My first impression was that it was a way to
use up left over roast beef but then saw the appetiser category. Guess
I'll file it under the "learn something new every day" category. (G)
