ML> Subsequent to my discussion with Dirty Dave about traveling
ML> all over while in cardiorespiratory compromise, I've started
ML> puffing up more than usual. I sort of panicked when I opened
ML> my pillbox and found the Lasix chamber empty. How could I be
ML> so stupid as to forget this essential. So I called in an
ML> emergency scrip, which got filled by the local CVS in minutes.
ML> Total cost to me - $2 or 2.2c a pill, less than anything but
ML> maybe aspirin. Later I was looking in my passport case and
ML> found all these little white pills loose in it. Turns out of
ML> course that the lid had popped and flooded the passport case
ML> in Lasix, so now I have extra, which I'm using.

Go figure... but probably a good providence in the long run. :)

ML> It's now 0600, and Swisher is sleeping a foot away, having woken
ML> me up at 0130 for his own medical problem. Speaking of which, he
ML> did a dummy by leaving the hoses for his IV back home, which
ML> required another panicked call to his doctor's office, which
ML> arranged for a supply to be delivered this evening after the
ML> game, but the deliveryman went to 1415 North Scottsdale Road in
ML> Scottsdale whereas we were at 1415 North Scottsdale Road in
ML> Tempe. Coupled with the fact that 1415 North Scottsdale Road in
ML> Tempe is in a part of Tempe that is north of the river, so people
ML> think that it's in Scottsdale, well, it took a while for the
ML> deliveryman to figure that out.

A Comedy of Errors, but All's Well That Ends Well... ;) So far I've
managed not to do any major messups with meds and trips... but it's an
ongoing paranoia.. ;)

ML>> them. And in fact if United/Continental severely devalues or takes
ML>> away my 600000 miles, I'm gone to OneWorld right away, but if it
ML>> treats me ok, I'll stay.
NB>> Seems like a reasonable fear that should be addressed... :) One can
NB>> be fiercely loyal, but with enough reason to undermine that loyalty,
NB>> even that one can decide that enough is enough... :)
ML> I was never fiercely loyal. US Air and Alaska got enough
ML> that for a few years I was "elite" on all three airlines.
ML> "If only I'd given you all my business." The problem is
ML> that every program is either in jeopardy or making changes
ML> that are hostile to me, or both.

I can be fiercely loyal to friends... ;) not quite so much to brands
or to programs... But when programs start letting one down, that's not
a good thing... I've been similarly multiply loyal to credit card rebate
programs... it can be useful to have more than one kind of card or
rebate program...

ML>> We have $20-30K to give away, but in my opinion none of our
ML>> applicants is worth doodly squat, and I'd sooner give out $0. I
ML>> doubt that my other committee colleagues will think this way,
ML>> but I've discovered that even smart people are usually stupid.
NB>> Richard's ex-employer (from EET) apparently had the grant bullshit
NB>> down pat... and apparently also wasn't encountering any donors that
NB>> recognized the emperor's new clothes aspect of the proposals...
ML> I hate that, but so it goes.

Likewise. Richard would come home at times and rant here (since one
couldn't safely do at work)... ;/

ML>> I will have a lot of food consumption, including interesting
ML>> stuff, in the next weeks, but there may not be enough time to
ML>> chronicle it all, in which case starting April 2 or so I'll be
ML>> posting trip reports, such as the long-promised bbq ones.
NB>> That sounds right nice... ;) I'll be looking for them... ;)
ML> Starting today, thanks to the Lasix.

I've seen a few... ;) Of course, now, for various reasons, I'm almost a
week behind again... ;) Spent a few days crunching numbers and filling
out forms for our tax returns... they are finally in the mail, and we'll
be getting back some decent refunds... :)

ML> Also, seat 23A or F on the A321 - these have room for the elbow
ML> to protrude into the exit door area, plus they have no 22A or F,
ML> so one gets all the stretch one can use. 23A is somewhat superior,
ML> because 23F has a regular seat two rows in front, while 23A has
ML> a crew jumpseat facing, which means that for takeoff and landing
ML> one gets to look at a cute flight attendant (the most recent one,
ML> two days ago, looked to be a 20-something half-Asian brunette).

That might not be quite as appealing for someone such as I... (G)
Unless perhaps it were a male attendent... ;)

ML> Bill says hello to everyone if they remember who he is.

Never met him in person, but certainly remember him from the echo. :)

ML> Yesterday, for the first time in my adult life, I shared a bed
ML> with a guy - the hotel screwed up the reservation and gave us a
ML> king room with all the twins sold out (spring training makes a
ML> disproportionate number of Just Friends bookings). Luckily,
ML> neither of us is huge, and neither of us snores too badly, and
ML> we were farther apart in the one giant bed than tonight in two
ML> separate ones. Strangely, tomorrow's hotel also screwed up
ML> the reservation, but there were still two rooms available with
ML> the right number of beds, so that got fixed. For the weekend,
ML> Lilli joins us, so there are three customers, two rooms, three
 ML> beds.

Sounds like all survived the ordeal.. ;)

NB>> Hap, too, if he connects with y'all... I noted that his birthday
 NB>> was yesterday (from the Doc's bulletin 14)... ;)
ML> I haven't been on Facebook lately, which is my only source for
ML> birthday information. If I remember to go back there in the
ML> next week or two I'll wish him a happy one.

My only source is Doc's Place, Bulletin 14, Birthdays Today... ;)
