Without looking at it - my best guess is that the problem is in the socket
inside the notebook. Probably the receptacle is worn and wobbly internally.
*OR* the attachment to the circuit board has a cracked solder joint or similar
giving you grief. Either situation will require opening up the case and
inspecting the area of the circuit board/plug. Good news is that it probably
won't light you up like a cartoon cat, or burn your breeches off and cook your
goose. Further good news is that it *SHOULD* (note I said should) be a pretty
inexpensive fix if taken to a competent repair facility. If you were in this
area I could direct you to a number of them or attempt the repair myself --
it's not a difficult job. At worst (I think) you might need a new female plug
to mount to the circuit board.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Savoury Wild Goose Stew
 Categories: Game, Stews, Vegetables
      Yield: 10 Servings
 
      3    Geese; boned, cubed
    1/2 c  Flour
    1/2 c  Oil
      2    Envelopes onion soup mix
      5 lg Carrots; quartered
      4    Ribs celery; chopped
      8 sm Onions; peeled, sliced
      2 c  Green beans
      8 oz Fresh mushrooms; sliced
      1 ts Sweet basil
      1 ts Tarragon
      2 cl Garlic; crushed
      2    Bay leaves
      6 lg Potatoes; peeled, quartered
           Cavendars Greek seasoning
 
  Rinse goose meat and pat dry, then coat with a mixture of
  flour, and salt & pepper. Brown in oil in a skillet.
  
  Place in large roaster and add water to cover, add the
  remaining ingredients except potatoes.
  
  Bake at 375oF/190oC for 2 hours.
  
  Reduce heat to 275oF/135oC, add the potatoes and bake an
  additional hour or `til goose is tender.
  
  Thicken sauce if desired, remove bay leaves, and serve.
