===============
Hi Nancy,

NB> bar selection... oh, and steamed rice and fried rice... :)

RH> Decisions, decisions. I'd go for high protein, low carb. Trouble is,
RH> with the sauces, I don't know ingredients--if sugar is used,
RH> thickening agents, etc--all potential carb bombs.

NB> At least with the buffet, you can pick and choose exactly what you
NB> take from each tray... and control pretty much how much sauce you get
 NB> as
 NB> well...

Yes, that's always a good plan. The problem is, trying to decide what to
try. (G) At a place like Golden Corral, first plate is salads, second is
meat and some hot vegetable, 3rd is dessert(s). Each successive plate
gets smaller in serving size/number of items so usually the dessert
plate has maybe 2 things on it, and small quantities of each.

NB> NB>> They bring out your choice of wonton, hot&sour or eggdrop soup
NB> with NB>> either the buffet or the lunch specials... :)

RH> Again, a tough choice to make. (G)

NB> Or none at all... ;) The wonton broth would be fairly low carb, and
NB> you could always leave behind the noodle while eating the meat
 NB> filling,

That's my favorite part tho, the meat with the noodle.

NB> too... They're all good... I like the eggdrop soup there, since he
NB> puts some veggies in it for a little crunch, some shreds of water
NB> chestnut, a few carrot shreds, a few peas.... :)

That's the more practical one, all things considered.

NB> NB>> It would let you try a selection
NB> NB>> of the more popular items on the menu... :)

RH> A bit of this, more of that and none of that, thank you. (G)

NB> You always have that option... :)

Helps to know what's good for me, what isn't in addition to what I like
and what I don't like. (G)

NB> RH>> Yes, and Steve hadn't been over there in a while. It was his
NB> choice RH>> of places to go to but I had no arguement. (G)
 NB> NB>> I can see that. ;)

RH> Especially since he had chicken caccitori, even tho it wasn't on the
RH> menu. That, and cannoli for dessert................need I say more?

 NB> Quite tasty... :)

Very much so, actually.

NB> RH>> I've had some that's been too hot for me to appreciate the taste
NB> of RH>> the dish. I'll top out at a medium level.
NB> NB>> I top out higher than you, then... But I've always been able to
 NB> taste NB>> the food...

RH> Did your dad like hot and spicy foods? Mine doesn't so we had very
RH> bland food when I was growing up. His heat level would rate in the
 RH> negative range.

NB> Daddy liked a fair bit of spice... I got my recipe for spiced tongue
NB> from him... peppercorns, allspice, cloves, bayleaf, onions... And his
NB> (and most of the family's as well) favorite cake was spice cake with
NB> penuche icing... Ginger snaps were a staple in the cupboard, too... I
NB> don't remember doing things with peppers, though... Dunno how high his
NB> heat level would have rated, but I'd figure probably in the range of
NB> as high as yours is now...

So you grew up eating things spicier than I did. That makes a
difference, where you start from.

NB> RH>> Once I get other things done...............Got caught up on the
NB> back RH>> newspapers today, work around the house the last few days,
NB> catching up RH>> on Fido, 2 trips to Raleigh for QofV related events,
NB> Sunday School & RH>> church, the dessert auction, farmer's market,
NB> etc, etc during the day. NB>> Yup, I can relate... ;) Plodding
NB> through the Fido catch-up, while NB>> coming home to a full
 NB> schedule... ;)

RH> And then it starts all over again. We're taking off for a few days
 RH> next week again.

NB> May's going to be a travel month for me, too... May 2 is a day trip
NB> to Penn Yan for a meeting... then my niece is getting married on the
 NB> 16th
NB> near Pittsburgh, and the following weekend is my Spring board meeting
NB> for the pond association... never stops, really... ;)

We'll have a good amount of time (not quite 3 months) at home after this
trip before any more travel. The next trip tho, will be a long
one--visit family in western NY, VT mission and the picnic.

Catch you later,
Ruth
