That rat chewed some hole to get in, so I think Fred was "on alert" hehe

That's funny... I didn't realize mice like envelope glue :)

LOL There's that :)

She was in a number films early on (40's I think?), one of the Thin Man films,
probably a lot more than I can remember... later she did some work in a soap
opera, I think "As the Word Turns". Really nice lady.

Yes, some of the late show bands these days aren't bad, but I was really
impressed with Carson's band. Hmm.. maybe it's like one's "first
wordprocessor" and how it used to be said long ago it would be one's favorite
hehe

Yes, know what you mean there. We had a "thing" this week with Lola where the
dogs decided they wanted to play, and I guess Lola indicated somehow "I'm
game". The dogs started chasing her, right up the stairs until she was under
our bed. It seemed she wouldn't come out, period. I was getting worried about
her until Ron told me he'd seen Lola come out and sneak downstairs for food and
water last night. I'd like to clobber those two idiot dogs sometimes.

What great names (and a great film :) )... Lulu squeaks as well. I thought it
was funny because the only other time I'd heard a cat do that was when we had a
full-breed Maine Coon cat, and he did that. :)

Yes, we had a real hot day here around the holiday... probably did hit 90F
Memorial day.. today it's nice, about 80F. More work on my garden boxes and
getting the strawberries in maybe in a bit :) In the meantime, I'm going to
oink out on this salad tonight, with peas/greans from my garden box:

===Sugar Snap Pea Salad==
http://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1016395-sugar-snap-pea-salad
Ingredients

    Salt and black pepper
½ pound sugar snap peas, trimmed
1 teaspoon minced green garlic or 1/2 teaspoon minced regular
    garlic
    2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, more for drizzling
4 ounces pea shoots, ends trimmed, or use baby arugula
      or microgreens
10 ounces ripe, runny Camembert (or another washed-
rind cheese such as Époisses or vacherin)
1 tablespoon finely chopped chervil or chives

Preparation

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Have ready a bowl of
well-salted ice water. Drop peas into boiling water and cook until
crisp-tender, about 1 minute; use a slotted spoon to transfer peas to ice
water to cool completely. Drain well and pat dry with a towel.
In a small bowl, whisk together garlic and lemon juice. Season with
salt and pepper. Whisk in oil. Add pea shoots or arugula and toss to
    coat.
Scoop out runny cheese from inside rind and spoon onto four small
plates, smoothing the cheese to cover most of the plate. Scatter
snap peas on top of cheese. Drizzle with olive oil. Mound greens
over peas. Sprinkle with chervil or chives and serve.

Take care,
Janis
