JK> He sounds like he was an interestingly colored cat, that's for sure.
JK> And a neat chance for you folks to enjoy a kitty :)

That was before we had any of our own living here... we boarded another
friend's cat when they went away on trips, but that was all, back
then...

 > Sounds distinguished... ;)

JK> Well, he did have a great mustache (laugh)

Made quite the picture, I'd guess... :)

 >> Eh.. a moment here and there LOL.. they hang out with Matt when I'm
 >> busy. They still sleep with us, not him...
 > Patterns are hard to break... :) They're probably still getting used
 > to the fact that Toby is gone, too... :)

JK> Yes, no doubt. They still stop off in Matt's room upstairs now and
JK> again as if to see if there is anything there.. even though we moved
JK> his room downstairs when Toby was so very sick weeks ago.

Gotta check to make sure it's all ok, after all... :)

 > They're lab mixes aren't they... :)

JK> That is what the rescue people told us, and as little pups they both
JK> did look like full breed labs, well except for Indie's markings on his
JK> head... Indie had the biggest feet I'd ever seen in a pup... he did
JK> mostly grow into them ending up the same height as Toby.. Sophie didn't
JK> though.. which I'm just as glad of. Who needs two 'lummoxes' hogging
JK> the bottom of the bed (grin).

One is bad enough, to be sure... ;)

 > Did you ever find out what else is in them...?

JK> I asked my vet once what he thought was in their "family"... I figured
JK> he'd have an idea.. he burst out in a guffaw and said "AMERICAN MUTT!!"
 JK> :)

IOW, too many possibilities to be sure... or to list... ;)

JK> So I guess their bloodlines were crisscrossed every which way for more
JK> than a few generations. I know the area down south they were rescued
JK> from had a lot of dog-fighting rings... And I know they use Labs in
JK> those rings (along with pit bulls and others) because Labs don't fight.
 JK> Really sad stuff.

Very sad. I was just thinking that Sophie might have some genes from a
breed or breeds that did make good guard dogs... like maybe pit...

JK> Thankfully both our dogs take after the lab side
JK> mostly so that's a good thing. I've also read that rescue dogs are
JK> always very insecure when owners leave the house. I thought that was
JK> interesting as well. Matt says they always cry themselves to sleep
JK> when we go shopping, etc.. silly dogs :(

Eventually they'll settle in, maybe... especially if they bond well with
Matt... ;)

 > Yeah, Sophie's probably thinking, gotta humor mommy, even
 > if it is beneath my dignity... ;)

JK> Yes, I think so :) It's funny to watch her watch Indie and I play
JK> sometimes. Like she'd like to join in, but rubber balls aren't her
JK> thing :) I should see if I can find an indestrutible rubber toy for
 JK> her. Maybe she'd enjoy that. :)

Maybe... part of the joy would be in finding out how fast she could
destroy it... (G)

 > That's kids for you... living in the moment... and noticing
 > everything... ;) Is the baby fairly brand-new...?

JK> Yes :) I guess she has 6 kids now :) It's like the house I grew up
 JK> in.. hehe

yeah... sounds like mine, too... :)

 > At 5 and 3, they're
 > probably old enough to comprehend death... even if it isn't really any
 > easier for them than for us... It is, after all, a fact of life... and

JK> Sure, I probably might have mentioned more then but the conversation
JK> kept changng if you know what I mean haha

Yeah... I do know what you mean... kids that age also tend to be little
magpies... ;)

 JK> That's pretty common isn't it.. and neat. :)

Yup, way too common that people try to hide reality from their kids...
And we thought it quite neat that our son could fill in that gap... I
think their parents may have learned something that day, too... :)

JK> We love eating this and used to eat it all the time in Korean
JK> restaurants in Louiville, KY :)
 JK> ===Korean Bibimbaap Recipe===

Our favorite place used to have a great bibimbap... too bad it is long
gone now... and our current favorite Korean place has a respectible
one... ;) One of my favorite Korean meals... :)

JK> Geez, now I want to make this for dinner tonight.. :)

And did you...? Or didn't you have the ingredients available... ;)
