That could well be. That reminds me ... one dry summer long ago,
groundhogs invaded our garden just to gnaw on watermelons. Dad used
to try to pick them off with a .22 pistol. Once he opened up a
bedroom window and shot at one from inside the house early in the
morning. The noise in an enclosed area was louder than he
anticipated. I thought it was a pretty cool thing to do (I was 5 or 6
at the time) but Mom thought otherwise and there were words. (He
didn't do it again.)

Absolutely. They can't actually do that. But their tails are both
long and swift and if they swat a dog with it, it might appear that
the quills were thrown.

You don't like zucchini and Roslind doesn't like eggplant so if I
accommodate both of you I would pretty much be making stewed tomatoes.

I have never tasted that liqueur based on the assumption it would

I am using fresh cherry juice currently as it is cherry season.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Dried Cherry and Walnut Strudel Bundles
 Categories: Pastry, Fruit, Nuts
      Yield: 6 Servings
 
  1 1/8 c  Dried cherries
    3/4 c  Boiling water
    3/4 c  Walnuts; ground
      6 tb Apricot jam
     24    Fresh phyllo pastry sheets
           -or frozen; thawed
      6 tb Unsalted butter; melted
      6    Pieces kitchen string;
           -(6-inch-long)
           Powdered sugar
 
  Place cherries in small bowl. Pour 3/4 cup boiling water over. Let
  stand until softened, about 30 minutes. Drain well. Pat cherries dry
  with paper towels. Mix cherries, nuts and jam in medium bowl.
  
  Lightly oil heavy medium baking sheet. Stack phyllo sheets on work
  surface. Trim to 10-inch square (save scraps for another use). Cover
  stack with plastic and damp kitchen towel. Place 1 phyllo square on
  work surface. Brush lightly with butter. Arrange another phyllo
  square atop, with corners at a slight angle. Brush lightly with
  butter. Repeat with 2 more squares, arranging corners at slight
  angle. Spoon 1/4 cup sherry mixture in center of phyllo stack. Lift
  edges of phyllo and bring together around filling, forming bundle.
  With string, tie bundle just above filling. Place on prepared sheet.
  Repeat with remaining phyllo and filling, forming total of 6 bundles.
  Brush outside of filled portion (but not tops) of each bundle with
  butter. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover carefully and chill.)
  
  Preheat oven to 325F. Bake until phyllo is golden about 35 minutes.
  Transfer sheet to rack and cool. Carefully cut string from each
  bundle. Sift powdered sugar over bundles and serve.
