For a treat, Bill decided to take me out for breakfast.
Kava Pancake House

We were both drawn to the hash and eggs, but I decided that
it was silly for both of us to get the same thing, so I
ordered the sumo moco, because it had twice the meat of a
regular loco moco. Instead of two eggs atop a half-pound
hamburg patty and a half pound of rice, all smothered in
gravy, it was three eggs, a pound of hamburg, and a pound
of rice. Both of these come with a short stack of pancakes
with syrup and spread and a generous cup of mac salad.
While we waited I saw a regular one go by and remarked that
I was in big trouble, even though I had ordered mine with
only two eggs. When it came, a half-gallon bowl filled
pretty much to the top, plus enough pancakes for a regular
breakfast, plus the lagniappe of mac salad, I knew I was in
trouble. If my calculations are right, this comes to over
4 lb of food, which turned out to be better than it had to
be, maybe even worth ordering again if I'd done something
other than just sit in a metal tube the day before.

The main player was surprisingly tasty, surpassing even any
good loco mocos I'd had before. The eggs were good enough
that I almost regretted not having the third one, the first
burger patty, a somewhat greasy somewhat overcooked but
delicious mass, went down really quickly, and the gravy
was rich, oniony, and excellent. The rice was done to just
below Hawaiian stickiness and was nicely lubricated by the
fat from the meat. The second burger was a little difficult,
as cooling and lack of gravy had taken their toll. Mac salad
was more or less the usual thing but cut with cole slaw,
which weirded it up a little and not in a good way. The
pancakes, which I'd looked at disdainfully at first, were
really good - soft and light and very unlike the stale-
Bisquick-flavored things I am used to: I ate them all, the
first two with butter only, the last moistened a bit with
fake maple syrup. In the end I left half a burger patty,
half the rice, and half the mac salad, taking relevant
parts home in a styro go box to make fried rice with later.
I'd eaten about 3 1/2 lb of food.

Swisher's plate, only a bit more manageable, consisted of a
whole can's worth of hash, flattened and fried and folded
into an omeletlike thing, two eggs, and half a pound of
hash browns. Why they add hash browns to a hash plate I
don't know. He had a biscuit as his side order, and though
it was double or triple the size of a regular biscuit, he
managed to down his whole serving.

Obviously, dinner was out of the question.
