Well, yeah. I understand that Dr. Land approached them with his instant photo
process before he shopped it around -- and was shown the door. Also, one of the
Kodak engineers(?) presented them with an early version digital camera and they
ho-hummed it and said "It'll never fly" or some such. The Land/Polaroid thing
may be urban legend -- but I'm pretty sure on the digital camera thing.

Heck, when I was in the printing trades I used a *LOT* of Kodak orthochromatic
film, chemicals to process that film, and printing plates to burn the images
onto for printing. I was talking with one of the suppliers from whom I used to
buy film, printing ink, and offset plates. He told me that Kodak, 3M (who were
as big or bigger than Kodak in the graphic arts field) and Handschy Ink (one of
my mainstays) were no longer in the printing fields. Handschy is just out of
business - done in by old equipment that could not be modified to meet new EPA
strictures.

When I did a Bing search on "ibm rochester ny" this is one of the top entries
in the results:

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Rochester Chops
 Categories: Five, Pork, Sauces, Dairy
      Yield: 4 servings

      4    Pork chops
      4 tb Mayonnaise
      2 tb Yellow mustard
      2 c  Milk
      3 tb Brown sugar

  Preheat oven to 350oF/175oC.

  Coat one side of pork chops with mayonnaise. Lay mayo-side
  down in 9" x 13" baking pan. Spread mustard on top of
  chops. Pour enough milk into pan to reach, but not cover,
  top of chops. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake in a
  preheated oven for 1 hour.
