I made us a brunch out of the leftovers and some eggs and bread
that were lying around the house, and then we were off, as Lilli
had an earlyish flight. Car return was easy, but she found halfway
in the PreCheck lane that her boarding pass didn't have the
authorization, so we aborted our takeoff and went to the desk, where
an apologetic agent put in her credentials, and we were good to go.
Only that she was pulled over for a secondary search, which seems to
be different for PreCheck than for ordinary souls. It took maybe
five minutes. My own clearance took under a minute. And then we 
went to the Boardroom, where United Club, Delta Sky Club, American
Admiral's Club, and Priority Pass members are admitted if flying
Alaska or their respective airlines. Lilli also was eligible as a
first class passenger, so we were covered 4 ways in all.

We amused ourselves at the mechanical pancake maker (she used 
maple syrup, I used chocolate syrup) and then had a round - hers
was Woodbridge Merlot, mine Alaskan Amber. Half an hour before she
was set to leave, I heard a familiar voice at the front desk - 
Bob Davis, who was trying to fix a misconnect to be caused by the
delay of his flight. He stayed for an hour or so, during which
Lilli left for her flight (surprising the front desk, who had
thought we were married), and then I was left alone for another
hour or more, and then back to the gate, where I got on

I found on arrival that 6B and C were already occupied by a
pleasant woman about Lilli's age and a rather brusque double-
wide younger one whom I took to be a young relative. Some idle
chat yielded that my seatmate was in the early stages of
dementia and the large young woman (who turned out to be
reasonably pleasant, even with her charge) a home health care
aide who had been hired to shepherd the older woman on the
standard vacation package - cruise the inland passage one way
and fly back, with sightseeing trips to glaciers, wildlife
parks and whatnot. I gained respect for the aide by overhearing
conversations that went like

Aide - Can you name some animals we saw on our trip?
Patient - ... oh ...
A - Do you remember, at the park?
P - ... elk?
A - Yes! We did see some elk. Any others?
P - ... er ...
A - Anything besides elk?
P - ... elk?

Makes me vaguely fearful of what's to become of my once
okay brain.

The flight, thank goodness, went faster than scheduled, though
we did have the usual interminable wait for a gate to be cleared
up for us. In the meantime, two drink services and the granting
of a handful of honey-mustard pretzels by an exceptionally
graceful young crew.
