I call what I do "speculative investing". I don't play the slot machines at 
all. Ever. They are a mugg's game. I will go to a craps table - and bet the 
"don't pass" line -- because that's the way the house bets. Or maybe visit the 
roulette wheel and bet red or black. If I lose I double down and add a chip. 
Unless their wheel has two green spaces (0 and 00) as that tips the odds too 
far in favour of the house.

Poker isn't gambling, BTW - it's a game of skill.

Jeeze, Louise. In August 72 I was just getting over the pain of turning 30 - 
at a time when the feeling among the young people of the flower power set was 
"Don't trust anyone over 30".

      Title: Cheddar Poker Chips
 Categories: Appetisers, Snacks, Cheese, Chilies
      Yield: 24 Servings
 
      1 c  All-purpose flour
      2 tb Yellow cornmeal
  1 1/4 ts Coarse salt
    1/4 ts Cayenne pepper
        pn Fresh grated nutmeg
      2 tb Very cold unsalted butter;
           - in small pieces
      1 c  Fine grated Cheddar cheese
    1/4 c  + 1 tb milk
 
  Combine flour, cornmeal, salt, cayenne, and nutmeg in bowl
  of a food processor fitted with the metal blade; pulse to
  combine. Add butter, and pulse until mixture resembles
  coarse meal. Add cheese, and pulse until combined. With
  machine running, add milk. Process until dough comes
  together and is well combined.
  
  Transfer dough to a clean work surface. Shape dough into a 1
  3/4" wide log. Wrap with 2 layers plastic wrap and
  refrigerate for at least 24 hours and up to 2 weeks or
  frozen for up to 4 weeks.
  
  Preheat oven to 325oF/163oC. Slice well-chilled log into
  1/4" thick slices. Transfer the slices to a parchment-lined
  baking sheet, and bake immediately, rotating sheet halfway
  through baking, until crackers are golden brown and firm in
  the center, 25 to 35 minutes. (Crackers should not get too
  dark around edges.) Transfer to a rack to cool. Crackers may
  be made a day ahead and kept in an airtight container at
  room temperature.
