Good timing on your part... coming out of your trance when you did...

Scary... and yes, that would have a tendency to wake one up... 
Good that you were able to avert, even if you hadn't died, you might not
be in particularly good shape had you made impact....

Indeed.  I had very little sympathy for the impatient driver, who
probably did manage to damage him/herself as much as the car... but I
did spare some compassion for the oncoming car that probably sustained
as least as much damage, possibly also to the driver thereof... As
others were stopping, I didn't stop... so I guess I'll not know the
aftermath of the accident...

[smile]  Perhaps they had scouted the area prior to your arrival for
likely spots...  and I'm sure they have the experience to be able to
calculate or extrapolate from there...  ;)
