Courtney brought a pack of marshmallows to top her
sweet-potato-in-a-pumpkin with, but everyone vetoed
that, so she threatened to make s'mores, only nobody
had any graham crackers, and I wasn't about to let
on that I had chocolate.

Both - his works are usually representations of
recognizable things but symbolic of concepts, so.

By the way, the trombone is actually a trump ...
I did say that I enjoyed his work in my younger
more warped days - he deals with unpleasant or
hard-to-take issues a lot.

Dragon fruit is kind of yucky fresh as well.
You might appreciate it if you were parched,
but otherwise it's bland and useless. The
appearance is striking, though.

I often describe something in a post shortly
after it happens, but the report doesn't get
finished for a month or three.

Not if it turns out to be crummy ... and I originally
raised the possibility that there might be several
grades of sausage gravy - regular, premium, and Kosher,
maybe. Imagine having gallons of leftover gravy.

I went to an Indian place in the North Bay once with 
an Indian friend, and the dishes could be ordered on
a scale of 1 to 10. I ordered a 7 for calibration's
sake, and the proprietor said that we looked like 5s,
so he brought us 5. Neither of us could detect much
heat, so we had to call for the hot pepper, ah well.

Pear honey
categories: preserves
yield: 1 batch

per 1 qt Kieffer pears
3 c sugar
1 lemon, juice of
1/2 lemon, grated zest of
1/2 ts ground ginger

Pare and core hard-ripe Kieffer pears. Cut in chunks 
small enough to easily feed through food grinder 
fitted with coarse blade. To each quart of ground 
pears add all other ingredients.

Boil mixture in stainless steel, porcelain, or graniteware 
pot stirring frequently until thickened (Do not use 
aluminum). When desired thickness is achieved, immediately 
put in hot, sterilized jars and seal. Remember that this 
is a spread and should not be overcooked to a jelly stage.

A tasty variation is to substitute orange and nutmeg 
for lemon and ginger.
