I lost many of my MP3s in a butterfinger accident. I'm waiting until I get
a more powerful machine to redo everything in FLAC (a superior codec to MP3
but it makes HUGE files...the price to pay for quality).

DD> So, are youin the millwright department or the IT help desk? I thought
DD> it was the latter - but, what you describe here sound more like

Strictly IT and even at that the duties are limited. That means I don't do
physical wiring anymore as we have a contractor for that. I don't even fix
cable ends; we just toss the cable and buy more.

As an example, one of my main jobs is keeping the Zebra printers running.
Zebra printers, for those that don't know, are large specialty printers
designed to print large labels. They are notoriously finicky and cause
problems. Each assembly line station that needs these printers have two
in case one goes down. However, as is often the case, the way the printers
are set up, when one goes down, the other one doesn't always like to pick up
the slack.

When that happens, that's a "line down" condition and we literally have to
beat feet (no running, of course, but we do have a trike we can use) to that
line and fix it.

There are a million other minor fires we have to put out constantly. One of
the things we do is set up computers using the company's approved image
build of Windows 7. We also configure cell phones for those employees that
need them (nothing difficult, all are Samsung flip phones).

Of course, there's more, but I'm not at liberty to discuss it.

DD> That can only be good for you. And less and less hassle as you get your
DD> body inured to it. Don't they let you zip about the facility in one of
 DD> their nice Gator vehicles?

Oh no. We're not high enough in rank to get that. Even if we did have one,
we have to go through Gator driving training every six months. From what
I'm told, we're going to do that anyway, as well as fall prevention since we
do go up on scissor lifts to work on equipment racks in very odd places,
like 100' up in the ceiling.

DD> A job is something you do for money that you wouldn't do except for the
DD> money. What your dad wants is a position. Bv)=

That is true. He wants a reason to get up and do one of the top three
things he loves to do in life every day. :D Mom and I tease him about it
but he is genuinely interested in a position, so I will inquire into it for
him. It can't hurt!

DD> As long as you like cooking and eating there's probably not a lot of
DD> danger of pissing off your croaker.

I hope not. They're upset that I don't get them the readings they want
right now but I am trying to get settled down into a routine to where I can
do that for them daily.

 DD> Me, I'll settle for the 200# - 210# range. That's only 50 more pounds
 DD> ..........

Better 50 than 150, methinks.

Another holiday recipe that I'd love, but can't have:

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Rich Orange-Chocolate Truffles
Categories: Candies, Chocolate, Entertain, Gift, Christmas
      Yield: 2 Servings

    1/3 c Heavy cream
    1/4 c Butter or margarine
      6 oz Pkg semisweet chocolate
           -chips
      2 tb Grated orange peel
      1 ts Orange extract
           COATINGS
           Ground natural pistachio
           -nuts
           Unsweetened cocoa powder
           Confectioners' sugar
           Chocolate jimmies

Stir the cream and chocolate chips in a small heavy saucepan over
medium heat until bubbling and chocolate is almost melted. Remove
from heat. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the
mixture is smooth. Stir in the grated orange peel and orange extract.
Pour the mixture into a shallow baking pan and refrigerate until firm
enough to shape, about 40 minutes. Meanwhile, spread 2 to 3
tablespoons of each coating ingredient in individual shallow dishes.
Divide the cold chocolate mixture into 24 equal portions. Roll each
portion into a ball. Roll the balls in the coatings, 6 per coating,
to cover completely. Place the balls as they are coated in 1-inch
paper or foil bonbon cups. Store in an airtight container in the
refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

  Makes 2 dozen truffles.
