Hi Sean,

RH> Busier'n a one eyed cat watching two mouseholes? Keeps you off the
 RH> streets at night. (G)

SD> Yes, really is like that. However, I'm getting better at using the
SD> help ticketing system which is relieving the other tech of a lot of
SD> stress. I've been doing small things alone and the big thing is just
 SD> learing where
 SD> everything is here.

Helps to know the system, how it operates and where things are in the
place.

SD> At night, the main thing is fixing the huge label printers that are
SD> scattered everywhere when they break (and they do; they get abused
SD> pretty badly). I'm feeling confident enough to be able to scamper
SD> down onto one of the lines and fix something if need be. If not,
SD> well, help is but a phone call away.

A phone call and a wait for someone to show up or help over the phone?

RH> Too bad Felix can't cook but you would probably get tired of birds
 RH> and/or fish all the time. (G)

SD> He is odd in he just likes his kibble I feed him (Purina One Indoor
SD> Advantage). I have tried and tried to get him to try wet food but he
SD> just doesn't like it. Today, at the local Dollar General Market, I

Picky cat! Give him an ear scritch for me.

SD> found a small bag of Friskies chicken (it's just shredded chicken in
SD> its natural juice) for 65 cents. Going to try to get him to taste
SD> some tomorrow to see if he likes it.

Don't hold your breath.................

RH> I used to, would take the elevator automatically but have been taking
RH> the stairs a lot more recently.

SD> I climb up and down stairs constantly at work. It can be a real
SD> workout at times but that's okay. The only thing that bothers me is
SD> my neuropathy and I'm busy needling (!) my VA doctor to help me out.

Keep up with it, squeaky wheel gets the grease with the VA.

RH> No, cats get distracted by laser pointers too easy to make good cooks.

SD> Felix can put "captured the red dot" on his resume. I once was
SD> playing with him when he jumped up and put his paw over the end of the
 SD> toy, thereby
SD> capturing the red dot. What's funny is that I follow Morris the Cat
SD> on Facebook and had mentioned that on his wall. I actually got a
SD> reply asking me, as only Morris could ask, how that could ever
 SD> possibly happen. :D

Steve would run the dot under furniture with Rachel's (now deceased, the
family just adopted a new one) Lou and Stu cats. They would sit but the
piece of furniture, waiting for it to come out so the next time he'd
use it, he'd "run the dot out" from the same area where it went in.

RH> We're planning on doing some recreational trips, not just "have to"
RH> ones. Two burners will be a challenge but it also has a
RH> microwave/convection oven. If we hook up to AC power, we can also use
 RH> our induction hot plate.

SD> In my little motorhome I'm in now, the propane stove and oven work
SD> perfectly. Hopefully when I get paid at the end of this week, I can
SD> go fill up the smallish propane tank on the motorhome. If anything,
SD> it will be nice to warm up soup and make some grilled cheese on a cold
SD> night. I mainly use a small workshop electric heater to stay warm,
SD> but it would be very nice to have the actual propane-powered heat in
SD> the motorhome to use when it starts dropping down farther in temp.
 SD> It's supposed to be a balmy 21 degree F tonight overnight.

It'll be nice to have some heat. We're going to take a small AC heater
with us on the first trip.

RH> You got some protein, better than all carbs.

SD> I wound up buying some lunchmeat at the deli today. I know it has
SD> more sodium in it than I should have at times, but I need protein at
SD> work. It can be physically exhausting in a very short amount of time,
SD> but I know that my tolerance will build up quickly.

Add a slice or 2 of cheese to the lunch meat for more protein, no carbs.

RH> Steve's experience with getting orthotics thru the VA was less than
RH> great. I think it took 6+ months for it to get straightened out. He
RH> still can't be on his feet overly long.

SD> I'm lucky as the VA contracts with a very good external prosthetic
SD> company called Excel Prosthetics here in town. Their local office is
SD> just across the street from the VA. My doctor ordered another pair of
SD> orthotics for me last Wednesday when I saw him. I'll be calling Excel
SD> Monday to see what's going on. These orthotics are all handmade and
SD> fit to an absolute with my feet. It's a godsend. If it wasn't for
SD> the neuropathy, I'd have no foot pain at all.

Steve needed them for plantar fascitis. It took something like 3 or 4
trys to get them made properly; they were causing more pain than they
alleviated.

RH> I'd agree, boots would be better for uneven ground.

SD> The hiking boots I want are about $400, but you get what you pay for
SD> in that area. Nothing like blowing out an ankle 20 miles from
SD> anywhere and miles from flat ground.

No, but I don't do that much hiking any more. Still have a pair of boots
I bought years ago, but they're not a NAME brand.

RH> I've heard of it, never tried it tho. Might be worth checking into tho.

SD> She's used Bragg's Liquid Amino for years now and I cannot tell the
SD> difference in taste, except it doesn't taste like I'm licking a salt
 SD> lick.

I've used soy sauce for the most part, did try tamari years ago. I
couldn't tell that much of a taste difference then, maybe I could now. I
might pick some up next time we're at Whole Foods.

RH> Can't do it for us, the corn and corn meal rule it out. Yes, it does
 RH> look good, otherwise.

SD> I understand that. Technically, I am not supposed to eat wheat since
SD> I am allergic to the natural mold that is in it, but I do anyway. The
SD> whey in cow's milk makes my ears fill up with fluid internally, but I
SD> do drink milk anyway (though not nearly as much as I used to).

Do you do much cheese? We don't use a lot of milk as such, but
alternative milks. Most milk things in our house are in yogurt, kefir,
cheese........................

Computers run on smoke..............

SD> That's what I tell people at work. Sometimes, I ask them if they
SD> turned it back off and turned it back on again (from a British show
SD> making fun of the IT profession).

And get a dumb look in response?
