Not sure, because as after we started on our task,
our own attentions were devoted to dealing with
hundreds of dollars worth of fat (sold below cost
at $99.99 the serving, as a gimmick), and what other'
people thought, well, heck with them.

There's lots of intermingling wherever the opportunity
has existed. That doesn't mean that people can't put on
airs and practice the weirdest kinds of oppression at the
slightest provocation. Yesterday Lilli and I visited the
grave of Homer Plessy, the losing plaintiff in Plessy v.
Ferguson, the case that ingrained racial discrimination 
in the US, where it stood untouched until 1954 and remained 
in partial legal effect until the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

He was a member of the height of Creole society who just
happened to have a mother who was part black. So though
he looked white and mingled in white society, he was not
legally white; so he was recruited as a test case against
the segregation laws of Louisiana. Which he tested by 
buying a first-class train ticket and sitting in the
first-class section. And was busted.

Eventually, his case went to the Supreme Court, which
ruled against him. I don't know what happened to him
after that.
