Long Trail Double Bag double Altbier - rather high in alcohol,
which was masked by a rich maltiness; nonetheless, this was
surprisingly fruity, probably owing to its being hoppier than 
a real Alt. B. I'd take it but preferred

Smuttynose Old Brown Dog, which was similarly malty and
caramelly but with a touch less alcohol and a less exuberant
hopping scheme. A-

Old Mecklenburg Copper amber ale - medium body belying a 
serious maltiness which itself contradicted with major
bitterness; big head, smooth and a very hoppy finish. B+

The Good Bean roasted chickpeas - a surprise offering from
United Airlines - these were hard-crisp and tasted just like
the ones we used to get at Dairy Fresh Candies 40 years ago:
good memories. An oddity - the aroma was strangely reminiscent 
of the Mary Jane peanut-butter candies, which I used to be
dismayed at when I saw them in my trick-or-treat bag but grew
to sort of like. Ingredients: chickpeas, safflower oil, coarse
salt, Vitamin E.

Deep River potato chips - despite the flowery talk on the
bag, these were fairly standard chips, maybe a touch thicker
than the mass-market norm but not so robust as your boutique
chips or even Cape Cod or Grandma Utz. They were pretty 
flavorsome but intermittently on the salty side (the salt
was unevenly distributed.

Native (products from nature) Cocoa Mix Organic Instant (Made 
in Brazil) - ingredients: organic cane sugar, Organic Dutch 
process cocoa powder, natural malt flavor, soy lecithin, 
Organic Maltodextrin, Salt, and natural vanilla flavor.
The roast bean flavor was a bit weedier than I would like,
a little reminiscent of cardboard. No vanilla presence. The
powder was a bit coarse-grained, so there was a sandy sludge
at the bottom of the cup.

Simply balanced fruit strips wild berry naturally flavored (more 
than 95% organic) - ingredients: apple puree concentrate, apple 
juice concentrate, contains 2% or less of natural flavor, citrus 
pectin, lemon juice concentrate, strawberry juice concentrate, 
raspberry juice concentrate, blueberry juice concentrate, 
citric acid, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), vegetable and fruit juice 
(carrot, blueberry) for color. A strange texture, like Knox Blox,
even though there was no gelatin. A little fruit-puree graininess.
Initial taste tart with a little sweetness; initial aroma generic
tutti-frutti going toward cherry. On chewing, apple and then maybe
some raspberry came out. On the whole, a don't buy.

J.D. Gross (Rausch Plantagen) chocolates, bought at Lidl:
Ecuador 70% - though well sweetened, the flavor was intensely
chocolaty, fruity and espresso notes, hard melt, pretty good;

Amazonas 60% - of course quite sweet, and one might have thought
it a milk chocolate for the smooth melt (but the color was dark).
Less concentrated flavor but not unpleasant. I'd buy this as a
dessert chocolate, not a munching one.
