Ärende: Nuts!
=============
Hi Janis,

>> hahaha :) Nah, my swipes are a spoonful, that's about it (g).. I
>> think my son and Ron do enough of it in to make it a standing item on
>> the list though :)

JK> > It's an every two-three months item for us, depends on how much
JK> cashew > butter we have on hand in addition to the pb.

JK> A 3/4 lb tub of peanut butter from Wegman's lasts us a week.. maybe..
 JK> (g) Ron says "minimally" :)

You have more people dipping into it than are in our household so I can
see why it goes fast.

>> I'm sure. I think it was about 20 years ago that Ron and I stopped
>> putting any sugar in our coffee.. before that we used to drink coffee
>> "light and sweet".. the thought of that now feels ick :) Certainly

JK> > I've never been able to stomach coffee--black, sugar, milk, combo,
JK> etc. > OTOH, I used to put both sugar & milk in my tea, then went with
JK> just sugar, now it's stevia.

JK> That's interesting.. Tea we drink as is, nothing added. When someone

My folks never drank hot tea, some iced tea during the summer. I had
some hot tea at a neighbor's once when her daughter & I cam in from
being outside (in the winter). It was enough to make me decide to go
with it, instead of coffee.

JK> is ill with a flu, then I'll add honey and lemon, but that's it. I
JK> expect it would be very hard to get used to drinking tea that way, if
JK> you've never done it before though. We buy very flavorful teas as
JK> well, not the 'lipton' type. Our favorite in the morning is Numi

We have a lot of flavored ones but my go to, morning black tea is Tetley
British Blend. For iced tea I'll use the Tetley family sized bags; Steve
likes it better than Lipton.

JK> Organic Chinese Breakfast Tea, the whole Numi organic line is great
JK> though. Also we buy a lot of Republic of Tea's fruit teas, like
JK> bluberry, etc. These are generally green teas though some are black
 JK> tea.

We've bought a few of them from time to time. Went to a store called
Teavana (expensive!), loose tea, in the one local mall a few weeks ago.
Got a couple of teas, only a quarter pound's worth, but probably won't
go there again.

>> cupboards I mentioned.. I'm thinking of moving the kitchen table out
>> and just using the dining room table once Ron gets those butcher-block
>> counters finished up. Maybe a few more along that wall would be
>> helpful, we'll see.

JK> > We'll have to see it sometime.

JK> Would be good :) It's a large kitchen, but probably not as large as

We'll be up in NY in October.....................

JK> the one in Windsor. The problem I have with the cuboards is with the
JK> majority of the lower cabinets. The couple who owned the home before
JK> us installed the "new" kitchen about 6 years ago which is great, but
JK> unfortuately the wife _really_ liked those slide out drawers in just
JK> about every cabinet in the kitchen below the counter level. :) They

I'd rather have side outs than the arraingement we've got now. The lower
cabinets have half shelves for the top so I can't store as much in them
as I want. Had to deal with them in GA too; if we ever get our own
place, I'm going to get slide outs.

JK> are impractible if you have a lot of oddly sized "toys" that need a
JK> place to go. If all you bought were canned items and short bottle/tin
JK> items, they could work well I suppose.

I'll customise them to fit our needs.

(Chili sauce)
JK> > Remind me in a couple of weeks.

JK> Is that hot sauce the one you folks sent to a picnic perhaps last year
JK> or the previous picnic over here? That sauce had some heat :) Steve
JK> or you did post that recipe and I have it here somewhere ;)

No, this is different. It's tomato based, somewhat like a chunky
ketchup. I'll send you the recipe when we get back to NC and the dust
settles a bit.

>>> often made my own with little sugar, but generally we buy non-HFCS

JK> > If I were that much into ketchup I'd consider it.

JK> hehe.. We don't go through as much ketchup as we do peanut butter,
 JK> thank goodness (g).

We go on fits & spurts with ketchup, more so than with peanut butter.

Catch you later,
