Hi Ruth,

 RH> > RH> Naturally. That's always happening to me. Find something I
 RH> like and > RH> they'll
 RH> > RH> discontinue it.

RH> > We've had that happen more times than we'd like to think about. It
RH> hurt > the most when we were in Germany and doing the bulk of the
RH> shopping at > the commissary. Even if the stores on the economy had
RH> roughly the same > product, it wasn't quite the same and the only way
 RH> you could get the
RH> > American version you wanted, was to have someone send it to you.
RH> Other > alternative was to stock up if you went back to the States but
 RH> that
RH> > wasn't an option with some products.

RH> Perishables in particular. OTOH the reverse probably happened too.
RH> Come home and you can't get the stuff you got on the economy, even if
RH> the same brand is here in the US too.

Most often same brand but lesser quality. We shipped home some Nutella,
Jacobs coffee and some other things from Germany. Shipped some Ono
seasoning from HI, found some a few years ago but that source dried up.
We may have to go on line (manufactoring place or Amazon) to get more,
relatively soon.

RH> > RH> Or in your plain yogurt? It works nicely in that too.
 RH> >
RH> > I buy flavored yogurt for eating, the plain gets used in cooking
 RH> and/or > baking.

RH> I buy the plain sometimes so I can add stevia to it instead of the
 RH> fake sweeteners or sugar.

Most often I buy the Oikos Simply 100 Triple Zero or the Aldi's 100
calorie brands. They're about 14/15 grams of carbs, mainly stevia
sweetened, so good for me with little fuss.

RH> > RH> > I ought to mix some doughs up and keep in the freezer for
RH> that > RH> purpose. > Cheaper, and better than the store stuff.
 RH> >
RH> > RH> True most of the time. Also healthier.
 RH> >
RH> > Much more so, especially the ones I make.

RH> Whole wheat and natural sugars?

Of course. Tomorrow will be bread baking day however, not cookies.

RH> > RH> Figures. Truckers aren't always gourmet, but they do
 RH> appreciate good > RH> eats.

RH> > Tried it on an off chance--we needed gas & it was supper time. Our
RH> usual > choices of gas weren't available so we stopped at a chain we'd
 RH> never
RH> > heard of (seems to be TX only). Fill our gas tank and stomachs both.

RH> Texas is big enough for that.

For sure! We spent 2 nights in state, crossing it. First was just east
of El Paso, second was just west of Fort Worth. Made it into LA by
lunchtime. In all fairness, we didn't get into TX until around 8 pm the
first night so east of El Paso was a good stopping point. We'd left
Deborah's mid morning, stopped in Benson to get gas, dump tanks and have
lunch, then stopped at a trading post in NM for a couple of blankets (to
be made into a coat) so didn't cover as much ground as we did the next 3
days.

RH> > RH> Tails make excellent toys. I've been known to "pounce" on a
 RH> swinging > RH> tail myself.
 RH> >
RH> > I leave it to the kitties. Rachel had both her kitties for a few
RH> years > before they got the dog so dog had no experience with a kitten
RH> for about > 8 years. She's getting a lot now. (G) Both of the older
RH> cats have passed > away and the new kitten is having fun with a puppy
 RH> dog tail.

RH> Well yeah. Poor dog, but if you WILL dangle something somewhere a
RH> kitten can get at it.

Just doing what a kitten does best.

RH> > From the looks of the maps, you're getting pounded again. We're just
RH> > having more cold weather.

RH> No poundings here any time recently. We got rained on but good once,
 RH> but that's been it.

We're going to have some days in the 30s early next week, but no snow.

RH> > RH> In which case, tasty food might be a side issue.

RH> > Seems that way. This place is good in that they will let patients
RH> have > an alternate meal if they don't like what's on the menu. They
RH> also let > families bring in food for patients as well--we brought
RH> some chicken for > Dad and one of his friend's family brought in
 RH> pizza.

RH> Who brings in the ice cream?

Don't know, maybe somebody else?

RH> > RH> Just as well. I'm a fairly decent size, so I use the standard
 RH> stuff. >
RH> > I've tried a full size lap top a few times--my hands felt lost on
 RH> it. >
RH> Meanwhile to me a laptop is bitty...and don't get me started on a
 RH> tablet.

OK, I won't. (G)
