Mom usually had supper down by 5:30 or so most every night, even when
she was working. After she retired, it drifted a bit later but not so
unreasonably so that snacking was encouraged. Christmas and/or
Thanksgiving were the exceptions; those larger meals were usually down
by one o'clock, maybe 1:30 if it was a bigger bird. On Christmas, Dad
would usually pass around the box of chocolates (he and mom always got a
large assortment box) in late morning to "hold us over".

I know, I take small tastes of things that are higher carb and
concentrate my nibbling on the higher protein goodies. If most
everything is higher carb, I may take a nibble or two, more often, not,
depending on knowing what else may or may not be available later. Saves
room for the good stuff too. (G)

By then, your mom's usual care team will be back and you won't be on the
road as often. Maybe a good snow day will let you stay home and bake the
turkey thighs. it looks like (the weather underground) our long therm
forecast is predicting another nasty latter part of the week for next
week. I can have the turkey breast thawed and ready to pop into the oven
if I pay attention to the weather over the next few days.
