She used to be interesting, attractive, and lunatic. Now
she's just lunatic. That's what time does for one, I suppose.

I forget if I answered this - or rather if my answer got out.
For some reason, when I tried to send a reply, Doc's sent
back a message that I was forbidden to access adult content
or something like that. Not that I'd be inclined to do so,
having had enough of same in my lifetime. Plus I was at the
time in a Muslim country, where I think they stone people
or cut their hands off or something like that for that.

I am no longer in a Muslim country, but my travel plans have 
been stymied by this weather stuff. I will be spending 10
unplanned for hours in San Fran followed by 7 hours in O'Hare;
e-mails to local friends have been answered but unfaborably.
So instead of going out in search of interesting food (I am
not hungry, thanks to Malaysian and United offering abundant
but not particularly good provisions) or wasting an extra
$100 for an unneeded hotel, I'm camping out - there is free
wi-fi, after all.

That answer is: marijuana, though false positives have also
been reported for opiates.

I wonder sometimes - even though I occasionally get the
extra scrutiny at the border (checking "yes" for food)
I have yet to be drug tested, but if I do, what would
happen if I'd had a poppy-seed hamantasch ...

Some experimentation might be in order. I'd also add a whiff
of garlic and a splash of Chinese wine. Pinches of sugar and
salt of course.

It was very fancy-schmancy. If I'd done it in the other
direction (had to cancel the return because of a schedule
conflict with United) they would have picked me up in an
electric cart and whisked me through the business class 
lounge to a private room, where I'd order breakfast from
a very elaborate menu (most items unavailable, but you
don't know until you order them). As it was, they had a
cart to take me to immigration, where they put me through
the diplomatic channel, and I was out in the 90F heat in
under a quarter hour. Speaking of which, a couple days
ago it got down to 60F there, almost unheard of.

Alicha Sega Wot (Mild Beef Stew)
categories: Ethiopian, main
servings: 10

3 lb beef cubed
5 lg onions fine chopped
2 c oil
5 ts minced or powder garlic
2 ts minced or powder ginger
1 ts Ethiopian Tumeric (more to taste)
2 ts Alicha Kimem (mild spice mixture based on black cumin)
2 ts salt (as needed)
1/2 c water

In large pot, saute onion and garlic with oil till lightly 
brown. Add tumeric and continue to simmer for 15 min at 
low heat and stirring occasionally. Add beef and water, 
let it simmer until beef is done, then finish off by adding 
Alicha Kimem and salt. Serve hot with Injera.
